M fender badge on F32 M-sport Line

What do you guys think of the new ///M badge on the fender? Looks kinda tacky to me. I like Mercedes fender badges, but it doesn't look right on the BMW especially with the gills.

I think it's bad. I would have those badges off in the first 5 minutes of owning the car. My MSport has NO exterior M badges and I like it that way.

Probably won't be on US-spec cars.
It's uber lame though.

If it does com on the U.S. spec cars I will certainly debadge it. I will likely debadge the 435i on the rear also.

^this. It's exceedingly unlikely to be on the U.S. version. If you wanna bet the farm on that it would be a very safe bet.

why is everyone so sure that the M badge won't come to USA? This is the first M badge to be on a non-M car that I've ever seen, regardless of country.

The M badge is on that car in the same way that the Sport and Luxury badges are on European models. Those badges are not applied to U.S. spec models.

I live in SoCal so never really any need for fog lights. I think it looks cleaner without them too.

+1

And the black fender vents are tacky as well...but still, a relatively minor blemish on an overall excellent design.

Copying what I said in the other M Sport thread:

I'm not sure if BMW will put the "M" badges on the fenders of N/A models, I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't. In any case, as much as I love what the ///M logo looks like and stands for, etc., BMW is going too far in badging the exterior as such if you put it in the perspective of a "real" M owner. Fact is, if BMW THEMSELVES badge a car with an "M" badge, then officially all of us with M-Sports have "Real M Cars". Why play it down if BMW's whoring it out? If someone walks up to your car and says "Is that an M?" then what are you gonna say when you have 14 M badges scattered all over your car and two of them being right there on the fenders? Well, thanks to BMW, it's a "Yes". I'd be pissed if I had a "true" M car.

When the F30s first debuted, they were adorned with "Sport," "Modern," and "Luxury" fender badges. Those badges never appeared on U.S.-bound production cars. The M badge on the fender of the F32 M Sport Line will likely share the same fate as the previous badges.

Yes but the F30 M-sport line in the rest of the world NEVER had the ///M badge. People are missing this point.

I realize that.

It's (i.e., the M badge) never going to make it to the U.S. market.

I'd de-badge it. Coming with an M badge from BMW makes it 33.33% as lame as if you put it on yourself. Still lame.
Audi has an S-line badge that resembled S badge and it is 17.85% lame, but I could live with it.

I have never owned an "M" car, but I think putting that badge on the car is almost false advertising by bmw. It sort of devalues the badge overall, and I would remove it if this was my car (if I could not order it without the badge in the first place that is). I realize badges are "marketing" but they usually stand for something in products. Once a brand has built up brand loyalty / recognition around a badge / brand, I hate to see them de-value it like this.

My reasoning above is kind of why I am not (usually) a fan of de-badging, as it can give the appearance that the car is something it is not... but in this case I am ALL for debadging it, for the same reason.

I wouldn't mind the M badge, or possible sport, but I wouldn't want luxury or modern sitting on there.

I don't mind if the ///M badge if it's on the wheels, steering wheel, foot rest or shift knob. Because those are just parts. But the door sill or external is not cool. Can't help that BMW put them there though.

Heck, I was embarrassed by all the ///M badges on my M3. All over the beast, inside and out.

Aren't badges all about marketing anyways? BMW wants to push the M Performance line of parts, am I right? So to do this, they will try to get everyone excited with this special badging. I get that some M-Sport owners will feel a bit embarrassed by having a non-M car badged as an M, and feel the need to remove them. That's your choice! What I don't get is why all of the "real M" owners feel threatened by a non-M car wearing this badge. This is no better than those who feel that they are special just because they have a roundel on their hood, and choose to look down on owners of other brands because they feel that their BMW is superior in some way.
When I spot other BMW's on the road, the badges are usually the last thing that I notice anyways! I'm looking for discreet hood bulges, tail-pipe layouts, fender vents, widened, rolled fenders, or any other clue about what could be done to the car. Whether this was done at the factory, or by the owner doesn't matter to me, I'm interested.
As for all of the M logos all over my '10 M-sport, I will always wear them proudly. They are subtle, and yet say that the car got a little bit of extra attention. I have no allusions that my car is anything close to an M, but it merely pays homage to a great line of cars that it shares a little heritage with.
