Smile Steering vibration on breakingx5 e53

Hi all.i have a e53 2005 3.0 diesel purchased july 2012 from a bmw dealer in france.upon purchase it had done 104.000kilometers, they agreed to exchange front discs and pads, plus 2 new front tyres.great, after 2 months i noticed vibration in the steering wheel when breakingfrom 130k-100k.I returned it to the dealer under guarantee they had it a fortnight. again put new discs and pads.this time ok for a further 6 months.then it started again.they have just had it back again for 2 weeks, this time they have changed the complete steering assy now drives like a dream!! hope this really has cured the problem.the bmw dealer in france was the MOST HELPFUL PERSON YOU COULD WISH FOR BRAVO BMW.

BMW authorised service is like that. If they know it is their fault, they are trained by BMW to be honest with the customer and repair free of charge. I think they may have aligned the discs and pads incorrectly, and when this happens, the uneven contact between pad and disc will send vibration through the steering column. I remember it happening to me when an apprentice was assigned the job of replacing my front discs and pads. It was grinding and vibrating after high speed braking. They asked me to bring the car in and in a day it was all fixed. Had the brakes for 3 years braking superbly.
