BMW service claims my samsung s3 is hanging the entire car NAV / computer system?

have a 2 months old 535i

nav and computer system kept hanging and not booting up

service dept finally said the samsung S3 is not compatible with bmw and will crash the nav/computer system of the 535 and we cannot use it.

is this BS or true?

I find it hard to believe the number 1 selling handset in the world doesn't work with a 2013 model car?

First things first. If you turn off your S3 before getting in your car, does the nav/computer system come up properly?

There is your answer. Show them this and then tell them to piss off.

ok, now tech is saying its a corrupted or invalid contact off the phone that is hanging the cars nav system

and that I can find info on it easily on the internet

1) I cannot find any info on it
2) is there a way to set the contacts not to sync if this is the case?

All I know is my Galaxy S3 (AT&T) won't sync my contacts via bluetooth. Obnoxious.... the BMW navigation is a pile of junk.

Leave phone at home. Drive. Issue?

BMW has a relationship w/Apple....Samsung not so much....plus there are those pesky NSA monitoring routines so much better integrated in Apple products....

I have an S4 and it works absolutely flawlessly with my 2009.

With the S3, there have been quite a few reports of problems related to noise in Google Contacts. When those are cleaned up, it usually works fine.

Interesting point on the contacts...I limit them to what I have saved on my sim card, rather than pulling in everything from gmail. Too much clutter otherwise.
