It could mean your synchros are worn out, gear is grinded down, or linkage not adjusted properly, motor mounts are worn, or the shift fork is getting ready to go.

If it only happened a couple times, then you probably did not engage it properly or "click" it in gear.

Synchros is out, same thing happened to my old tranny, replaced it from a guy who was parting out his car for $250. No issues since.

If you try to take it to a shop to rebuild it they will charge an arm and a leg. I was quoted $1600 for rebuild and one year warranty. No bueno for me, paid $250 for trans, $30 for new trans mounts, did trans fluid flush and replaced with royal purple synchromax and boy was I happy. The clutch was just about 3 months old so that was fresh enough for me and I did the swap myself so saved me $$ on labor

You could take it to AAMCO as well, since we have GM transmissions. :P
