Hi all,

Iím ready to snag a 2011 Z4 with 22K miles for $35K. I currently own a 2010 Mercedes C300 Sport. Iíve been looking for a hard top convertible for some time now and the Z4 is probably one of the sexiest looking roadsters out there Iím a bit concerned about the trunk space though. Living in South Florida I head to the beach quite often. Can I even get a beach chair in there??

While the trunk isn't huge, you can fit quite a bit of stuff in there prior to putting the top down, but you have to put it up again to get it out. It is a little longer than it is wide.

Well finally picked up the Z over the weekend. The one I was looking at was sold. But I did find a 2011 S Drive30i 28K miles for $36K. Black exterior red interior. Original window sticker reads $57K back in 2011. By far one of the best sounding sound systems I've ever heard! A few minor issues I noticed.

Musty smell coming from vents.
Trunk light not working
Alarm system not activating.
moister inside one of the headlamps caused it to fog up.

Off the the dealership I go for some warranty work. So far this car is a blast to drive

congrats on the new car. BMW has a history of musty AC vent smell, run fresh air through for a while without AC and see if it goes away, maybe the car sat for a while. There are some DIY methods to deal with it, search the forums for some ideas. "musty AC smell" brings up 44 threads.

Try this:

* Start engine, open the hood (bonnet)
* Open all windows (or better yet, the roof!)
* Run aircon on maximum flow & maximum heat for a couple of minutes
* Spray a disinfectant (like the Lysol brand we have in the U.S.) into the aircon air intake (in engine compartment under the windshield) for 15-30 seconds
* Let aircon run for another couple of minutes

The Lysol will kill any mold/bacterial growth in the system. Use a real disinfectant, not just an air freshener.

Thanks for the tip! I dropped the car off this morning. Lets see what they say. Service guy said they can replace the cabin filter for $149.00. I like your method better.

Could be . The car sat on the lot for a month. I have to do my research. My first BMW. I have a lot to learn! I still can't get over how good the sound system sounds. I thought the Benz had a good system. The Z sounds insane!

That's so bizarre. I like the sound system too, but so many people have complained about it. I assume you have premium sound?

Yes premium sound package. The first one I test drove sounded horrible! I noticed right behind you in between both seats there was a plastic cap with nothing in it. This one has a speaker in it, and one behind each seat.
