How to verify traffic info?

We had to take our X3 into the shop to get the window replaced (smash and grab incident in downtown Seattle). There were some issues with parts and we ended up in a 528i loaner for several days.

We immediately noticed the nav was showing colored lines for all of the roads indicating where all of the traffic was. I seem to recall this special gray mode, but ignored it until now. It was great having all of that information.

Got the X3 back today and immediately changed that option for gray mode, but there are no colored lines anywhere on the map. We have no idea what is going on. Traffic info tick mark is checked along with traffic flows. Still solid gray along every major road here in Seattle. Seems like traffic info has stopped working.

Any way to verify this? What are next steps? Back to dealer?

I dont use the gray traffic mode, and the traffic info comes in fine. The color lines on the road are not a traffic warnings, the color indicates a certain type of road, ie: state route or interstate. The tracffic warning is a yellow diamond or trianglar sign with cars in it, I forget which shape it is, the more cars in the sign, the heavier the traffic.

How to verify traffic info?

With the Advanced Traffic info on our 2014 model the roads do show colors based on the traffic flow. Red for stopped or very slow, yellow for slow and green for no issues.

The yellow warning triangles come up when there is a specific problem like an accident.

I don't remember exactly how I turned it on but it was intuitive.

The OP has a 2013 X3. I am not sure how advance the 2014 traffic color scheme is, Audi had it for a while.

How to verify traffic info?

We have a 2012 X3 and see the Real Time Traffic info including colored lines for different degrees of traffic congestion on the grey map just fine. Be sure you have the traffic flow turned on in the nav options.

The OP might want to check the text version of the traffic alert to make sure it is working.
