E9x M-Sport Owners: Dead Pedal Question

For those of you with the M-Sport package and StepTronic, has anyone had an issue with the dead pedal trim? Specifically, it appears on mine that there is some sort of plastic veneer the covers the metal/aluminum surface. This has started to peel and now it looks terrible - dirt has stuck to the exposed areas. Wondering what can be done - or what people have done. Would hate to have to bring the car in to have the dealer resolve - especially with a year left on the lease. Probably just leave it as is.

My 2011 came with the plastic film covering the dead pedal. It was there to protect the aluminum finish when the car was being shipped from the factory. The dealer should have removed it before you took delivery. Just peel it off and throw it away.

MT cars have a dead pedal too. Mine was covered in blue-ish transparent plastic. I peeled it off.

The problem with common sense is that it's not very common.

Attached is a picture of the pedal. You can see where the plastic is coming off the aluminum just below the black plastic nubs. Also note that I have removed the plastic. It was clear (not blue) and has left a sticky residue behind. Will have to get some goo gone on it and clean it up.
