F25 35i at Dyno Day

I've searched around but couldn't find any dyno results posted here for the F25. And yesterday was the Dyno Day event for my local BMWCCA chapter, so I thought I'd share my info.

First run; 5th gear, DSC Inactive, normal mode
259.80 HP / 262.21 Torque
1st run.pdf

Second run; 4th gear, sport+
273.88 / 273.77
2nd run.pdf

Third run; 5th gear, sport+
254.44 / 270.04
3rd run.pdf

Even though there should be greater parasitic losses with the X-Drive, my numbers don't seem too different from what I recall seeing for other N55 applications. I have just under 17k miles, no mods. I did put in a new OEM air filter.

When I had my A4 Quattro loss due to awd was about .25.
So that put you around 320-330 hp/tq - nice!

Nice looking numbers!

I was there as well (white F30 335i)... but couldn't get the transmission to stay in gear, as even in Sport+ & transmission in manual mode, it kept kicking down a gear. Tried in 4th, 5th, feathered the throttle until around 5.5k rpm, then floored it but it kept downshifting to a lower gear. Very odd. It was a green motor (just hit 700 miles), but even with the Power Kit + M Perf exhaust, I only ended up putting down 275 hp/281 lb-ft.

Does your X3 have the 8-speed ZF transmission?

Yes it's the 8 speed. I saw your issues and was concerned about how my runs would go. But fortunately things went well. In manual mode, I floored it from around 3500 and it held the gear I was in until past redline.

I really can't say what was happening to you other than a software thing? If it's any consolation, your 335i sounded awesome!

Just got back from Carb Connection, cause it was eatin me up!

And what do you know... still kicked down a gear (sport+ & manual mode, etc.).

But massaged the throttle really carefully and got in 3 clean runs... and ended up putting down 286hp/345lb-ft at the wheels.

Now that the mystery of the missing power is solved, it's on to getting that X3 for my wife!

PS - Sorry to threadjack... but the N55 is just a great engine!

Wow! Those are some impressive numbers

For the X3, the N55 is the way to go, IMO. I also recommend the Dynamic Handling Package and the Dynamic Damper Control (requires M-Sport now) - your wife may or may not care, but you'll have more fun on those occasions you're driving it
