New to us 09 328 - Question of oil service intervals

Just bought the wife an 09 328 with 30k. This is my first bimmer without an oil dipstick to check the oil . The manual says play along with the OBC says as far as changing oil, is this what you guys do or use your own change intervals? For instance on my 540 I use Mobil 1 0-40 and I change the oil at 7500 miles. I am planning to use same oil on the 328 as Mob1 is one of the BMW approved long life rated oils (ok?).

Also how do you reset the oil service, I have a peake tool for my '98 but doubt that will work for this car? I pretty much DIY everything and I have a solid Inde for times that I can't so I won't be taking her to the stealer.

Many of us follow the CBS system (15k or more). Many of us use shorter intervals (I use 7500 miles and BMW synthetic oil).

Resetting the indicators here: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=384430

I got spoiled using my oil vacuum to do my oil changes on the 540. I guess I have to break out the ramps and crawl under the car again.

Yes I miss looking at the color of the oil on the dipstick.

Have you noticed what else is missing from your trunk?

That's why I bought a full-size same rim and threw one of the (least worn) old RFT's on it for emergency situations.
