Exclamation Crazy Vibrations Accelerating

So there was some heavy rains and flooding when driving to work yesterday morning. At some points the water probably got a little over half the wheel high. I made it through with no problems.

On the way home however, I noticed vibrations when accelerating. Around 30-40mph there would be heavy vibrations, however if I release the gas pedal the vibrations would go away. And the car seems smooth at every other speed point, its just when accelerating and hitting 30-40mph. When I pass 40 the vibrations stop.

What did I break this time? I like how problems occur right after you opt out of warranty extensions

What kind of vibrations? No, not good or bad, I mean vibrations from wheels or engine?

Do you feel more:

a) vibrations noticed first on the steering wheel, then less on your seat
b) vibrations noticed first on your seat, but almost nothing on the steering wheel

?

In case of a) you are probably very lucky and hit something under water and didn't feel the impact or lost maybe a balancing weight. In case of b) ... well, fasten your belt because it can be anything from $2 to $12,000.

I feel it on the steering wheel and on my seat.. but if I had to choose, I feel it more on the seat.. So I assume my cost will be on the higher end of the range you provided

Maybe not. If you can't decide which one is better felt, I'm pretty sure you have a bent wheel, tire out of balance because it lost some of the weights in that water or (hope not) alignment coming because of the hit under the water.

I would certainly not expect any significant vibration on the steering wheel if it was coming from the engine/transmission/driveshaft.

How about you try tire shop first and let them check wheel roundness, tire balance and general alignment status? That shouldn't cost very much and you just might find the cause that happens to be relatively inexpensive to take care of ...

Automatic or manual transmission? If it's a manual, check the guibo.

It seems as if the vibration has stopped and the car is now running normally... 2 days before my scheduled service appointment for this issue.. Wonder if any excess water dried up maybe?? Not sure whether I should cancel the appointment now or what. This is crazy
