E82 / E88 1 Series (2008 - 2013)
BMWs throw back to the iconic 2002, with a renewed form and function. The smallest car in BMW's line up but still packs a punch. Available in coupe or convertible, powered by either an inline 6 in the 128 or the twin turbo rocket sled 135.

Looking into a 135i or 135is ?'s

Looking to get back into a BMW. Use to have a '07 335i, and really like the DCT in the 2013 135 now! I tested out a convert the other day and was pretty happy with the power.

How much more does the convert weigh over the coupe?

And is the 135is just bmw software bump? Or does it have any hardware to back it up?

Also anyone know when the 2014 is coming out, and if anything is changing?

Thanks in advance!

It's pretty much the bmw performance kit with the oil cooler. Only other mechanical item of note is that it comes with the performance exhaust. And of course its own special wheels. If you add everything up that it comes with you get a slight discount over buying and having the parts intalled on a regular 135i...but that assumes you buy everything (including the wheels).

The 2014 is going to be the F22 2 series....completely different look, etc

135is have ceased production. I think May 30th was the last day you could order one from Lepzig and since less then 250 135is coupes was shipped to the USA. Its a rare car to find CPO.

Yeah I had one ordered, but the factory couldn't deliver.

I'm glad I stuck with the 135i. It has more than enough power for me.

The convertible is nearly 400 pounds heavier, and with the top up, the rear visibility is terrible. If you could have gotten the Is, the premium would have been about $4K.

I found an 135is just the way I had configured it on bmw site!

Its in Denver and Im working a deal with them now. Trying to get him to meet me half way. And take my '12 jk wrangler on trade. Might be tricky, but its worth a try.

Isnt the new 2 series coming out this year taking over the 1 series?

From the pictures I have seen of the 2, it looks to be a little bigger?

I really do like the looks of the 1, looks like the old E46 Bimmers!

One other question, does the JB4 work the same with the 135is as it does with the 135i?
If I want to go the tune route.

My old 335i had the first JB, and it was the JB2 with race gas setting. Really pulled all the way to redline, with no drop off.

Thanks again guys!

Go to Cars.com. There are a few 135Is vehicles. The one you are looking at in Denver might not be an Is.

All the Is cars I found were stuffed with every option imaginable and above fifty grand!

I have a 135is and not sure you would need to go the tune route. The car is pretty damn quick. If you do go the JB4 route, you would probably need to add a high performance intercooler and maybe oil cooler (is is upgraded but not sure it can handle another 80-100 HP)because of the increased HP.

The convertible 135is weighs 331 lbs more, and I don't find the visibility that big of an issue -- especially when you can drop the top so easily. Plenty of power, and an incredible exhaust, especially with the top down.

Not sure where you are located, but these guys have had a few 135is in stock for a couple months now. Currently have three 135is 6MT convertibles and one DCT convertible. Worth a call. Fly and drive home or have it shipped:

Good luck with the hunt!

Does any one know for sure if the productions has ceased? If not, when is the dead line for ordering?

Any ideas about the production numbers so far?

I ordered a 135is on June 20. Status is now "Production Begins". I was told it was one of the last "modifiable" US build allocations remaining for the 2013 135is.

Some folks did and an extensive research on the production of the 135is; however, I don't think a coclusion has been reached about the cut off date for ordering!

It is interesting though.

i used to have a 09 135i convert, and i switched to the 13 135is convert becuz the engine is sames as the M1 engine, and the whole car is fully tuned by the M Power, the handle is still great, performance is better but i just love the exhaust sound, espeically when you down shift, it just great, go for it!

The F22 2 series, which is the replacement for the E82 1 series starts production in November of 2013. Allowing three months for line switch over it stands to reason that SOP for the E82 is July.

Mineral Grey Metallic, Oyster Boston Leather, Premium, Tech, Heated Seats, Harman Kardon, DCT. A great deal of compromise in the end ... I started with LeMans Blue, Black Leather w/Blue Stitching, and the 6-speed Manual. Hopefully any future regret is minimal ...

I have a 2010 i35si with 6-sp,nav,heated seats and Dinan stage one tuning (adds 60hp)
and it is a much faster car than my previous 2007 335i! The 135si is a very quick car!

Great! Mine is Mineral Grey Metallic, Oyster Boston Leather, Premium Pkg., Heated Seats, 6MT.

It took me forever to decide on the color and I was considering this combination until I saw one at the dealer exactly like yours (with the same options) and I locked in. It is absolutely beautiful; you'll love. For the 6MT though, I didn't have to think

What's the status of yours?

The 135is does not have the same engine as the 1M. The 1M is a N54 with a slightly more aggressive tune than a 335IS. The '13 135is is a N55 with the stage 2 PPK installed. On a dyno, pure stock there is about a 35-40whp spread between the 1M & 135is.

I understand that the 135i can be upgraded to the 135is with parts from the BMW catalogue?

The Is exhaust is a $1,200 part, but I don't know about the rest. In any case, I was cranking away from a light the other day due to some guy trying to cut me off to get to a freeway entrance ramp. Obviously he didn't have a chance, and I was thinking, "My God why would I ever want more power?"

Another thought was I had better take it easy or I'm going to get a ticket!

Performance Center Delivery is scheduled for August 29. It's going to be a long 8 weeks! Most of my rides over the years have been equipped with a stick. My daily commute, plus the option of driving a well-executed DCT got me thinking that it might not take too much joy out of the car if I give my chronic knee pain a bit of a break. If this car was for weekends or track days only...

I know this is a little off topic but i thought the answer may be found in this forum. Does anyone know why they are not making any more 1M's? Is the 2 series going to incorporate this? The ones that are for sale (maybe a handful around the country) seem to be overpriced.
