Brake Pads replaced

I decided to change my brake pads yesterday and when I put the new pads in, which were OEM pads, I asked my self, Self why are the pads shaped in the form of a pyramid, the pads cover most of the backing plate near the plate and then the pads are beveled off as you get toward the top where the pads contacts the rotor so it appears that on new pads the contact area is like maybe 80 percent at New and 100 percent of the pad is in contact when you have about 3/8 pad left is that so they wear out faster!!!!

I also cleaned the calipers, which are Aluminum, bead blased them, sanded the flashing off and painted them, they look much nicer now, the rotors were sill above Min so I left them on,

maybe do the rears today

Re: Brake Pads replaced

The initial brake pad shape allows them to break in without vibration and squeal.

Your work sounds great. Pics needed.
