The A/C knobs that rarely get touched are a decent size. The radio knob should come with a magnifying glass.
Have any nit picks?

It is way too small, I just never use it and use the steering wheel buttons, but sometimes it is nice to turn the volume up or down faster using the knob.

White cars and small radio knobs. Seem to go together. . Oh , that's the other thread.

Maybe it will grow up and be a real knob someday.

After a few weeks of happy ownership, coming from an E90 335i, two things annoy me:
- the auto climate control, with it's "airflow" setting doesn't seem to make sense to me. No matter what I do, it appears to stay at or very near to whatever airflow rate I set it. I just want it to do what every other car I have had with auto cc does - vary fan speed automatically as needed to reach the desired temp.
- The volume controls on the steering wheel should move back to the left. I'm sure there was some smart reason for it, but when I'm changing the radio stations or doing something else with my right hand, I want to be able to control volume with the left. This is my first automatic in a while and I have to REALLY wonder about the volume placement on the right with a manual, where your hand is often resting on the stick.

Moving from the N54 engine to the N20 hasn't been as big a deal as I thought it would be thus far, although I do miss the N54 sound and kick in the back in any gear.

Nit pick #2
Loudness + & - controls on steering wheel. . When I want to lower the music I get "please say a command". I'll get use to it in time but for now my wife asks what the heck am I doing.
I hit the wrong one each time. The controls are too close to each other.
Small nit picks here..... I hope they're the biggest issues I ever have.

1. I think the audio controls should be on the left side of the stearing wheel. If i wanted to use my right hand, I could just reach the Dash...
2. I hate that I have a Nav button, but i DON'T have Nav. (I don't want Nav, I just think it's real lame that they leave the button there)
3. I hate that i can only close the trunk, from the trunk. (Kia's can do it...)
4. I used to hate the Auto stop/start, but i had the dealer reprogram that.

I went to start our A6 yesterday and looked for the start button on the dash where the X3 's is.

My e46 head the volume on the left side, which makes more sense to me.

Another gripe is that the sun visor doesn't extend far enough when used in the side position.

Navigator. I'm I the only one that can't master it too quickly. Do I need a degree to add / delete address' and program favorites. BMW should have classes the same as the Apple store does for their stuff.

I use the My BMW app, now. I look for the address within the app and then send it to my car. The app uses Google Maps and simplifies the send function to a button click.

I sent a Google Map to the X3. It got there. I had no idea how to retrieve it. Figured it out.....a few days later

Nit Pic......
HUD display is dark and unusable, except at night. Sunglasses make it disppear as the HUD reflection is polarized on wrong axis.

.Dealership service advisors that never read a BMW forum or owner's manual.

I think it's pretty chintzy that they used cloth on the side of the back seats.

Great idea!

Another nit pick - wish there was more room up front. The center console is significantly smaller than my last 2 vehicles (including my smaller Kia SUV). Also missing the place for sun glasses at the top. The spot to the left of the steering wheel is helpful of course.

I believe that I accomplished this. First I put in the destination and had to "start guidance". Then pressed the favorite button.

I'm still trying to figure out how to get my iPhone5 music to play. I attached the phone to the cable provided by my CA. It looks much like the cable in my old Kia. With that, the music just played and saw menus and album covers on the screen. In my X3....nothing.

My iPhone is a 4S, but yours should work the same.

Use a standard Apple USB cable. Plug it into your iPhone 5 and the USB port in the armrest. Push the CD button on your iDrive controller. You should see your iPhone name next to the USB symbol. Select it by scrolling to it and pushing down on the iDrive controller. You should be able to figure it out from there.

I have not used a USB connector for the iPhone...have been playing the iTunes through the BlueTooth.

I could do that to, but I prefer to recharge my iPhone while driving to/from work, and do everything at home over wi-fi.

For future reference, and you're probably already aware of this, if you do use a USB cable in your X3 it will disable Bluetooth Audio support for your iPhone until you manually re-enable it.

Please ignore my previous suggestion which I realized did not work. But today I got it to work. First find a spot where the destination address can be selected so that it is highlighted. Like in the Address Book or in Previous Destinations list. Select/highlight the address and then press the Favorite Button.
