328xi wagon water pump failure?

Hi all. My first post with a question.

Have a 2007 wagon with 53xxx miles and has had all the normal issues fixed under warranty - vanos sensor gasket, intake silencer, pinion seal, brakes battery(we paid), etc. on the last day of warranty the window regulator went bad so brought it to the dealer to replace. They also found a faulty valve cover gasket and replaced. The day we took it home the car died. Brought it back and they said it is a water pump totally unrelated and $1500 no warranty coverage.

They are still seeing if it could be covered but two questions.
Can this possibly be at all related to the valve seal replacement perhaps by adding pressure in the system to strain the pump?

Am a little wary about no warranty. Will need tires soon. What else can go wrong in these? Keep or trade is in my mind.
Thanks

water pump failures are not uncommon.

It looks like you have already experienced head or valve cover bolt breakage.

The other known defect is valve ticking.

In INdy will do the water pump for about 1k

There are Diy's on doing it if you are so inclined that would run you around 500 in parts.
