The dealer rotated the tires. The BMW manual says not to, but some shops and owners do so anyway. There is no real problem; ask them why and insist that they un-rotate them if you want it done. (This is assuming you have a square rather than staggared setup.)

By assymetric do you mean that the rears are wider than the fronts (which is what most of us call staggared)? If they are, the dealer should definitely not have rotated them.

Assymetric has several meanings when it comes to tires: size, rotational direction and inside/outside are the three governing characteristics.

So your fronts are wider than your rears now? Please take a picture and upload. And for the love of god, why did you drive the car home? I would have looked at that, gotten the service agent, taken him to the car, and just stood there - silently - and waited for him to realize what was going on, and then for him to do the same thing to the person who did the work.

Is there some reason they can't just be swapped around so they're in the correct location? The rear wheels are also wider than the front wheels, assuming a sport package car. Is the correct width tire on the correct width wheel?

If this is the case, the different offsets on the staggered wheels would make it obvious that something is seriously wrong.

If this is true, your dealer is incompetent.

Why would you leave the dealer with the wheels in disarray?

Now I'm confused; are you saying that each axle had one front wheel and one back wheel on it? 225's on one side of car, and 255's on the other?

Either I'm really confused, or you probably shouldn't be driving a car......I'm just saying.
255 go on back, 225 go on front, it is that simple.

If the 255's were on the right side, it probably handled well on a NASCAR track!

OK, that's about the oddest thing I've ever heard, but it does explain why people may not have noticed it. Looking at either side, the tires would appear matched.

Biggest problem you may have now is that when the tires are placed back where they are supposed to be (exchanging the right front with the left rear while leaving the other two where they are), the wear on the two relocated tires won't be the same as the tire it replaces. There'll likely be some noise and roughness as everything settles back in. Also, if you have unidirectional tires (the tread is designed to roll in a specific direction for water removal and the like), you need to check that the rolling direction arrows on ALL 4 tires are pointing in the right direction.

I don't think there will be any long term harm done, but I would insist on a (free) 4-wheel alignment to make sure everything is in the best shape it can be under the circumstances.

Im asking dealer to replace the both front tires with brand new and one left rear with brand new and other rear was almost like a brand new...along with this to change the brake pads and rotors as well..

im worried this misplaced tires would have caused issues with brake pads to wear unevenly ,suspension and idk wt else could effect...

Sounds like the miles on this bad rotation setup are small; if less than 50 miles or so, I wouldn't worry.

Tell the dealer you want a tire/wheel warranty, since he potentially screwed up yours.
