No HK Sound Package ... alternatives for E92?

Alright Bimmerfest, so I purchased a 2011 335is last week without the HK sound package. My plan is to upgrade the sound, but it's at the dealer at the moment and I don't know the answer to this question: Does my 335is have subwoofers under the front seats? Or does that only come with the HK sound package? Second, if it doesn't have subwoofers, is there an easy way to install subwoofers under the front seats? Does anyone know of a E92 subwoofer installation kit for under the seats? Thanks!

Yes. All stereos sold in the US/CA have subwoofers, although none but HK have their own amp.

In the US both the Hi Fi and L7 have amps

In the US both the Hi Fi and L7 have amps. And these are the systems
that were offered in every year but 2010 and some early 2011 builds
when the stereo system, which has no amp or tweeters made it into the US.
for the 2010 and 3 months of the 2011 build. Hi Fi was standard in every other
US car for the other years. The rest of the world gets stereo as standard.
HK is the L7 system surround sound 13 or 11 speakers. Hi Fi is also known as the Premium system 10 speakers or 8 . Both the L7 and Hi Fi have amps .

Details about how to modify any of the three system and there descriptions are
found in the following links.
The system can also be identified by the option number using a vin decoder.

Much more info and system examples can be found in the following link.

As a starting step be sure to identify your system out of the three common ones.

Ctuna, thanks! Your sources were very helpful. I think I'm going with a Hybrid Audio upgrade along with Earthquake SWS subs.

Whats the hybrid audio upgrade?
I thought they just made speakers.
Also did you determine which system you started out with?

Chop362, I can't deny that. It's pure bliss to my hears too--I love this car. But I also need some refined musical entertainment sometimes and this standard (or Hifi) audio doesn't do it for me.

Ctuna, I just meant Hybrid Audio speakers (mid-ranges and tweeters). I'm not sure what amp would be just yet. I only have the Hifi standard so no dedicated channels to the subs--I would like to remedy that and ensure dedicated power to all speakers.

Most common amp used is Jl 600/6

Most common amp used is Jl 600/6(fits in the stock position enough channels for all speakers)
With the Hi Fi system all you need is a Technic Harness , an amp that's compatible with
balanced outputs of the head unit. Speakers and speaker adapters and the power wire kit.
They now make a Jl 800/8 so you could bridge two of those channels for a true sub if you want it. (But you might want more power than that if you are bass head)

I bought one its all you need one stop shopping.

I bought one its all you need one stop shopping.
He includes everything you need and pre sets the amp and crossover adjustments.
Its not cheap but you won't pull your hair out wondering how to make things
work and fit. Also a level 2 system is truly and audiophile setup.
Pink Floyd never sounded so good even on my home system .
He can tailor the sound to your tastes also.

That's the trouble with this stuff.

That's the trouble with this stuff.
It so hard to find anything that will fit the normal stuff like Pioneer and Alpine doesn't fit an if you want to keep the stock look you are limited to a narrow range of high end products.
All I can say is I tore my hair out trying to find a solution an even though I had to spend more bucks than I wanted to the results are quite good. Its basically the best sounding setup I have ever had in a car but mostly I had the Pioneer and Alpine stuff before. These kits are the only complete solution unless you piece one together yourself.

Technic lives in your state I think he is Fort Lauderdale. He has many build examples on the other board I don't know how close that is but he might be able to help you get some perspective on this stuff.
