Banged up lip on wheel

I was just given a set of 4 wheels by someone who no longer had use for them. They will definitely be an upgrade for my car. The problem is one of the wheels is in pretty bad shape. I took it to a place today and the guy suggested just removing the lip since the rim itself is in good condition and doing the same to all 4 wheels. what do you guys think? i'm in tampa and i would really love to do something about these wheels this weekend

(take it to a different place...) It might be cheaper just to buy one wheel brand new. Would probably look better too. But I know that is fixable- I have a guy up here that could fix a wheel that is square.

My guess is that rim is a goner and you'll have a very hard time finding a replacement.

You just bought yourself a nice 3 wheel set. Completely unusable.

Hi

From the pictures and your description so far, it's not quite possible to tell, but are they a 3 piece (or 2 piece) wheel? if so, you might be able to do something like getting 4 new lips for all four wheels. I'd say you'd need to have the wheels rear barrels assessed (assuming they are multi piece wheels) to see if that/they are also bent etc.

If they're a one piece wheel, do you know the brand of the manufacturer? if so, you 'might' be able to source another wheel from them or keep a lookout via ebay and the various forum classifeds etc.

If you don't know the brand etc, and it's not stamped in the rear of the wheels, assume they're low budget/quality wheels and you might as well junk them as 3 wheels are useless and finding/spending money on a 4th equally low end/budget wheel and then having to refurbish all four to make them match nicely isn't really cost effective, but it's up to you!

Cheers, Dennis!

That wheel is fixable. Take the barrel off and go to a reputable shop - they should be able to fix it like new. If you don't have a shop that is up to the task where you live, PM DPP528 and get the address of the place he mentioned, and ship them the barrel for fixing.
