Rims Style 308 or 309?

Started a thread on my new X3, http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=705656

Have a question regarding my rims. I ordered my X3 with the 18" style 308 rims. Thinking about it I like the look of the 19" 309 rims. Any experience with the ride on the 309 rims?

Short sidewall, run-flat tires are not going to let you forget that they're there. To my eyes, the 309's are the best looking of the standard X3 wheels; very aggressive. And I'm willingly making a tradeoff of ride comfort for looks. But between the dynamic dampers and just simply getting used to the ride, it's really not that bad. Of course that's totally subjective :-)

Leaning towards the 19" wheels. I live in Chicago and plan to get a second set of rims and mount snow tires for winter.

I took the 308M wheels, 18 inch is more confortable and when I think about an extra set of rims and tires for the winter tires... the 19' are way more expensive ...

Go with the 309's. I had the same debate as you. For a few bucks more it really adds that aggressive look.

Here is my thread with pics of the 309's

I have 309's and find them fine for every day driving. They are a little harsh when you are on roads that are a hot mess (lots of bumps, potholes, etc). I think it would depend on where you live and your road conditions.

I like the 309s, but since the X3 we just picked up will primarily be driven by the wife while hauling around our 14 week old son, I opted to stick with the 308s. Afterall, I was able to get the bigger engine, and HUD, so I figured the 308s would be fine and if I ever wanted to down the road (if I end up driving it in 5 years and she gets another new car) I could easily swap out the wheels then. I also think that, although they look nice, the 309s are very similar to many other wheels that are out there- and not just from BMW. The 310M or 369M wheels, though....well those are SWEET. Also, 19" drives the tire costs up pretty significantly.

I have the 309's(mounted on Goodyear Eagle LS RFT's) as well. They are sitting in storage with approximately 500 miles on them. Don't miss the run flats, but the 309's have a good look.

I strongly suggest 309s they look more rugged and masculine~
Hopefully it's just not me or I'm being gay
