Help Me Decide Which X3

Long story short, I was going to sell or trade my 07' 328XI Sedan w/ 51k miles but while parked car got hit. While car was in the body shop, drove a '12 Maxima (cloth seat no nav) & had horrible handling "looks like needed a balancing" when I would accelerate it would go side ways and it was scary to drive in the rain at that, called Rental company the person that got me the car was able to get me into an X3.

After driving the '13 X3 28i stock (no nav, black on black) I realized how different it is to drive a SUV vs Car. I figured why not try to get into one now knowing its not as big and it was super spacious for my needs instead of getting a coupe (single guy here). So thats how my story began, if it wasn't for driving that rental I would of gone to Audi or Cadillac for sure.

Anyhow, I've been looking for preowned since thats what I feel is best for me and the hunt has been interesting. Have these 2 candidates at a dealer out of state but comparing to what it will cost me to get something comparable in my area I wouldn't mind paying the shipping fee & still would be saving a lot.

Trying to decide between these 2, the dealer just got these in so they're waiting to update with pictures and price. I was able to chat via email with the Client Advisor and he sent me the Window Sticker for each. Hopefully they're both under my budget price & I'm able to get either of these babies. I am trying to find a side to side picture of a Black w/ M Sport & a Space Gray w/ Sport Activity.

2013 xDrive35i with 12,561 miles
Carbon Black Metallic
LUSW Black nevada leather
ZCW Cold Weather pkg
ZCX Cold Weather pkg II
ZMP M Sport pkg
ZPP Premium pkg
ZPS Premium Sound
ZTP Tech pkg

2013 xDrive35i with 10,137 miles
Space Gray Metallic
LUCZ Leather Nevada Chestnut
ZAP Sport Activity
ZCW Cold Weather
ZDH Dynamic Handling
ZPP Premium pkg
ZPS Premium Sound
ZTP Tech pkg

My first car was black and my previous was Silver Titanium Metallic, so I wanted to get a White or Space Gray for a change.

Thanks

Space G. for me only because I'm finished with Black cars. Also lower mileage.
We just picked up an Alpine White with Chestnut. The interior is beautiful.
If the "M" is not a must have your decision will be easier.
Good luck have fun shopping.

Don't pass up dynamic handling. Also, the rear bumper plastic strip is much better for NYC parking than the fully painted bumper. Other advice - when creating a thread try to be more specific and descriptive in the title. Neither this nor your xbimmers thread title helps your readers.

Space Gray - I love my Carbon Black, but not a fan of Black-on-black and I think DHP + Sport Activity Package outweighs M-Sport.

I personally would go with carbon black, If you're not used to dhp you won't miss it plus the look of the M-sport is superior to reg ( only IMHO no need to flame please) and carbon black is a very special color it's more on the bluish side during the day. plus the white stitching on black leather is really nice.

The two options are both xDrive 35i models, optioned identically with the Cold Weather; Premium; Premium Sound, and Technology packages. The differences are minor:
Color: Carbon Black is a much-loved choice, and is much less common than Space Grey, but Space Grey with Chestnut is a particularly impressive combination.

Original price: As described, the MSRP of the carbon black car as described was just $400 more than the space grey car.

Mileage: The space grey car has driven 2424 fewer miles.

Package differences (M Sport+CWII vs. Sport Activity+Dynamic Handling): It comes down to how much you value the M Sport cosmetics vs the functionality of dynamic handling. The black car will have 19" M wheels, high gloss roof rails, and the body lines of M Sport. The grey car will have 18" wheels (which might be a better match to NYC roads!), satin roof rails; all the other features in the M Sport package; plus dynamic damper control. The black car will also have heated rear seats, if that matters to you.
Overall it's a very close call based on original configuration, so I would focus more on any evidence of a difference in current condition. Compare the driving experience; look for evidence of any body repair work; compare service records; etc.

If the two vehicles are in identically good condition, I would give the edge to the space grey one. I love the dynamic handling package. I'm not swayed by the M Sport cosmetics, and would worry about its higher risk for bumper chip marks in street parking. But I do like the functional enhancements of M Sport, and these are largely captured in the Sport Activity package. What a shame ZAP was dropped for 2014.

Space Grey with Chestnut. Great options and much more compelling color combination.

When I looked at the X35i Build My Own online, it doesn't show anything for ZAP so you might be right but I did see the steering wheel is the same one maybe since I selected DHP?
You've made a great comparison !

Both of these cars unfortunately were sold without my offer being looked. So I have decided to lease instead of buying. Now debating on whether build my own (pay more & wait time) or check out different dealers to see who can give me a better price on a good optioned one (save time).

Thanks everyone for the help, I indeed needed to hear everyone's opinion.

Dealers typically do not order certain packages and options for inventory cars either because of local management policy or factory restriction. Check with your CA in order to understand what you probably will not find in an ordered inventory car versus a rare customer order canceled after receipt. Because of the short X3 customer order lead time at most large dealers, you probably can order what you want and have it before you could find something similar, if you can find it at all, by searching dealers' inventories.

Thanks will look into this.
Seeing what others are posting they have a wait time of a month at least when they build theirs. Do they get a loaner in the meanwhile (something similar) ?

Generally no loaner is provided while waiting for the car. The actual "sale" doesn't happen until delivery (just a deposit required to place an order).

Good to know, first time getting into a brand new vehicle.
I know I read somewhere someone who custom ordered their Panamera S got a loaner while it was being built, but hey its a Porsche so I figured why.

Thx

Question on the 2011-2012 X35i models, I've noticed in the shift section only has Sport or Normal while others have neither.
Now the 2013+ models have Sport & Eco Pro, what is this change, what are the advantages?

Thx
