E39 M5 Boot Lid ("Trunk" for the Americans) M5 Emblem

Hi Guys,

Please help.

When I took ownership of my much loved E39 M5, she didn't have a boot lid (trunk) M5 emblem. Now there just happens to be a small scratch just about where the emblem should be.

To save the expense of putting her into a spray shop to get the thing resprayed, I thought I'd buy the M5 emblem to stick on and cover it. The trouble is that I have no idea what the actual size of the M5 emblem is. So before I go ahead and buy one only to find it doesn't cover the scratch anyway, and would therefore have to put her into the spray shop anyway, I thought I'd ask the question of "the size", since after just phoning BMW I was surprised to get the answer of "sorry the size is not listed" but strangely, the weight was!!

Many thanks.

You need one anyway, why not just buy it?

I'll shoot a pic with a scale tomorrow. Oh, BTW.... the best forum in the world for M5 is M5board.com

Hi,

Sorry, I didn't explain myself properly.

I would prefer the cleaner look of the emblem not being there, but I've got to be honest, right now it's a toss up between spending £200 at the spray shop or around £50 for the emblem!

E39 measures the same. 140mm on the bottom. The M part is about 83, the 5 about 48

As I recall an OE BMW part isnt too expensive.
