New addition to the family

I'm posting the news here because you guys on the F01/02 forum are my Bimmerfest family. As some of you may know, I've been seriously considering adding to my garage. It was down to a choice between a Pre-owned M3 or a '13 Boxster S and my Porsche dealer just made me a fantastic offer on a Platinum Silver Boxster S. I'll post pictures tomorrow after I get it home...they are installing a clear bra now and I'm picking it up in the morning.

Congrats!!! Just like Deutsch and his [art] collection of cars, might not be a 7er but still post it

I keep seeing a new white 911 4S around my neighborhood, sure makes me want to lease trade... The things that keep me away is the exorbitant options list. A la carte everything, some option packages but they get you bad on everything. A nicely equipped 911 (not 4S) I was configuring was 120k

I wonder how they lease? Garbage like Audi? Or fantastic like our BMWs? Too high for my taste to finance one. 2k/mo is way too high for a car, I'd just assume get another rental property then.

Someday, a guy can dream
Chris

Pictures tomorrow I promise. Left the dealership with the car at 10am, ran a few errands, stopped by the house to file the paperwork, program the homelink, and call GEICO, then off to Annapolis with my friend of over 35 years for lunch and some highway driving. I haven't driven a stick in more than 20 years, but it came back to me quickly. This car has multiple personalities depending on whether I'm in "normal", "sport", or "sport plus". It loves, I mean LOVES, high revs, feels firmly planted on the road, and is a hell of a lot of fun to drive. As for the numbers, the sticker was slightly over $73K, I got it for a bit over $67K, and with taxes, tags, clear bra, and wheel and tire protection, it came to just over $74K out the door.

Washing it tomorrow and then pictures.

Thumbs up

Mucho congrats man!

As a "car enthusiast" I love to see and hear members, friends or family discuss other makes and models!

By admission... I have not been a huge fan of Boxsters. I appreciate and respect what they represent though: among the best all around Sports Cars on Earth! BUT... The new design is MILES ahead IMO over the previous gen!!! I always felt like a Boxster owner pulling along side a 911 would be somewhat belittling. Not with the new gen though! The look and power addition are VERY worthy.

And you know I can't and won't accept "factory anything" including Porsche. I'd most def be talking with and getting TechArt involved...

I ESPECIALLY WANT THIS particular CAYMAN...

Very Nice!

Congratulations!!! Thank you so much for sharing. I havenít driven the new Boxster but in í07 we got one and continue to enjoy it very much. It took a few hours of driving around the canyons for me to feel connected to it the way I did with BMWs but once I did, I felt we made a very wise purchase.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! I love, love Porsche. We had a 2006 911 4S and a 2009 911 turbo. GREAT cars, virtually flawless!! Drive it in good health, have fun and enjoy! Surprised you got the manual transmission....I have not read an auto review or owner review that did not rave and rave about the PDK....PDK is faster, smoother and gives ever so slightly better mpg! I'm biased, as I despise manual transmissions. I used to have them, when I found auto trannies to be rubbish, but almost every auto maker offers and makes just incredible automatic or dual clutch transmissions!! But, again Congratulations. It is BEAUTIFUL and I am very happy for you!!!!!!

Thanks!

You are quite correct regarding the PDK. That's what I have in the 4S. I tested all the configurations of the Boxster and Boxster S and found that I was having the most fun with the manual. I never imagined that I would go back to a manual, but it seems to perfectly fit the personality of this car. It won't be my daily driver; so, I don't think the stick will wear me out.

By the way, the Boxster is a hell of a lot of fun!

I know what you mean about the options! The Boxster can come close to 911 prices if one is not careful. Along with Bi-Xenon and 19" wheels, mine has partial leather, cooling and heated seats, Sport Chrono, power sport seats, Bose, Bluetooth, navigation, and satellite.

Beautiful car! Enjoy her in the best of health!

Good on you for opting to go with the manual. As much as the PDK is faster, I just love the feel of a Porsche manual, especially when you get that "perfect heel/toe"!

Having worked for Porsche in the past, let me encourage you to get involved with your local PCA chapter. Not only do they have fun meets, but REALLY fun track events... After all you did buy one the best handling Porsche models out there for a reason.... RIGHT?

Wow, great looking car. I bet that is a blast to scoot around town in. I have also considered getting a sportier ride with a manual. Just something about it that gets me going. Love the color!

Exactly! Sold the 135 last year and it's true what they say about convertibles...that once you've had one, you can't get them out of your system.
