Any horsepower gain will be insignificant, as the viscous clutch allows the fan to freewheel at higher engine speeds thus minimising any power drain. You would need two thermatic fans to do the same job as the engine driven fan and the hassles of fitting two fans to an aluminium radiator in that crowded space, wiring, thermostatic switches etc outweigh any conceivable benefit IMHO.

Re: Fans

There is more then enough space to fit fans, especially once the old fan is gone . I can hard wire them and just run a switch. Like old school... no??? I've had nothing but problems with it I just want that clutch fan gone.

Most problems with the fan clutch can be solved by replacing it ... what do you mean by "nothing but problems"?

To answer your question, yes. People have ditched the machanical fan for an elec one. Very easy and you dont have to worry about the mechanical fan ever coming apart. You can get an entire set up with temp control from jegs.com for about $150. Gives you 1-2 MPG better city driving, where the mechanical fan would be engaged.
