Max AC shuts off

Ok, this is kinda weird. So lately in SoCal it's been about 90-100 daily so i'm using Max AC all the time. For about 2 weeks now, the Max AC turns off after about 30 seconds and fans go to lowest setting. I press Max AC again and again after about 20 seconds now shuts off. However if I manually turn the knobs to highest fan setting, it stays on and air is still cold, but not as cold as Max AC.

I searched here and found 2 threads. But not sure if they where really resolved. Any ideas?

That usually indicates a power issue. Have you changed the battery lately?

Hi Snoop,

I have not changed the battery since I bought the car CPO in April 2011. So are you suggestion it might need a new battery? If the battery is indeed going out, should there be any other indicators? So far this is the only thing acting up. The other thread I found here admitted it was the battery but then said it was the Power Control Module. Could Diagnostics show its one or the other?

Hi Paper,

you know what, i haven't really noticed, I dont use the CD changer at all but will pay attention to it and see whats the deal. About 1 month ago I did have a slight issue with the CD changes though when I tried to eject it, it wouldn't pop out. I held the door open then it ejected. When i pushed it back in the door semi closed. Maybe that could be an indicator as well?

Do you have comfort access or soft close doors?

If you let the car sit for a while (24 hours or more) do comfort access and soft close still work?

If the car goes into a deep sleep, it won't let you run the max a/c right away. It's a feature to save power, and can indicate a low charge situation. Usually an aging battery, but sometimes an alternator.

nononono.... its the ac module (which is actually the knobs and control unit itself) it is right above the single disk cd player.... I had the exact same problem.... unit was replaced under warranty (CPO i think).

AC Blower Suddenly stopped.

Hello Jsedita; My 7Li did the same thing today. It was working fine and then suddenly stopped blowing. I checked the fuse behind glove box and they both were OK, one a 40amp and the other a 10-amp. My 7 is a 2004 with 105k miles on it and never any problems except today's issue.
I hear "Rage" is saying it's the "Control Module". I find it odd though, I'll shut off the engine and wait ten or fifteen minutes and restart engine select AC and set blower speed on high, I
get this very short moment of air coming from the vents, then it stops. Oh, and the air is cold, telling me the under hood components, compressor etc is OK.
Have you had your issue resolved since your July's posting. Mine started today August 13th, 2013.
any helpful information is greatly appreciated. I would love to FIY to avoid those HIGH dealer costs and Passport BMW...

Thanks

Ac Blower motor

I purchased a multimeter tester, after checking my battery that seems to be in good shape registering 12.5v/125amps with everything off and 14.3 v/145amps when engine running. I opened the passenger door, placed key-fob in and pressed the ing/start button without starting and the darn blower motor running normal, high and low settings. Started the car and the blower was still running normal. Got out of the passenger side seat and sat in the drivers seat and shut off engine and did a restart and the darn blower motor would not come on at all. Now, my question is, can the blower motor be ruled out and the resistor be ruled out also But what about the battery measurements.
Any one?
