Wow -- going to Banff this summer huh? Completely OT, but I was there a few months ago to go skiing at Lake Louise and Sunshine and stayed at the Banff Springs. Was an incredible experience! Loved walking across Lake Louise when it was frozen solid with ice!

Also went there a few summers ago for a bunch of hiking, etc.

Hope your car makes it in time for the trip and that you enjoy it -- it is incredibly beautiful country up there!!!!!!!!!!

yeah it looks super nice, the lakes with the mountain backdrop look unreal. nothing solid yet, just planning to block time off on my calendar and figure it out from there. if my friend doesn't have his passport, then it might have to be whitefish or something

today's update = no update (at least for me). Same status as yesterday -- vehicle is at port awaiting a ship (and no shipping information is available).

Are you calling your CA for the Bill of Lading for the ship info?

My CA had no information last Friday, didn't reply to my email on Tuesday, and is out of the office on Weds and Thurs so I can't bug him until tomorrow.

I'd be pissed! Call the dealer and ask for the GM. Worth a shot. Maybe they are not telling you something. They usually know exactly what's going on with the car production.

Thinking about it, I wouldn't be surprised if I had to wait another two weeks to get on the next ship. Looking at the shipping list from W&W using a partial VIN for the Morning Concert's 7/16 departure, there appear to be a lot of 2013's that were put on that ship. If I was BMW, I'd sure want to ensure that every last 2013 was delivered to California before I put a single 2014 on the boat....

No but at least you are asking another party at the dealer who might know something since your CA is incognito. It doesn't make sense for no reply by the CA to start. Second, shouldn't take that long find out a simple update.

Put my Vin in and Bingo !!

After reading this post, and not hearing from my dealer I thought I would try a search for my car. On the W & W site I put my Vin in, and up popped the unexpected info that my car is on The Morning Concert, on its way to its CA 08/14/13 offload.

I'm getting excited, but since I live in Oregon I'm hoping that after the transport and PDI, my very first BMW will be on my driveway about the 20th. Looking forward to it

Production

It seems early for a 2014, but my paperwork says the production date was 7/8/13. My dealer assures me that it is a 2014 and not the dregs of 2013 production

Nice, SNye45. My "production date" was 7/10/13 -- two days after yours.

Some 2014's went in late June as well. BMW is trying to get a jump start on production it seems.

Heard from my CA this morning. My new 328i is really sitting in a parking lot at the port waiting to be assigned to a ship. And it hasn't been assigned a ship yet.

Now I get to wait and see if it gets on the July 29 departure to California. He believes this happened because BMW is most likely trying to ship any and every 2013 vehicle that is left at the port before they ship a bunch of 2014's.

No offense, but why does this suck?

There were seemingly many production delays (at least with mine, and a few other forum members) with 2013 F30's. I waited 6 weeks from order to start of production ... They likely do want to ship out the 13's first.

They started production on your vehicle by quite a few days, I'm sure it will be shipped in no time.

It sucks because he's excited for his car, and has to wait. I didn't say it was wrong, just that it sucks he has to wait longer after being so excited

I feel your pain.

My car finally made in onto the ship Morning Concert. But I still have only about 4 weeks (I hope) left to wait.

At the moment it is really fun tracking the the ship's position on the web. It seems to be moving so slowly, as I find myself checking its progress daily.

I'm sure your car will make it onto the next ship, as it was only completed 2 days after mine.

i'm kinda curious why seattle deliveries aren't offloaded at the port of tacoma, since it's listed as the final port of call for a lot of the vessels stopping at port hueneme.

Because BMW has a huge prep center in Oxnard about a mile from Port Hueneme. They clean the cars and do a final inspection before they hit the truck to your dealer.

If they offloaded in Tacoma BMW would need another prep center there and I assume that would not be as cost effective as having just one for the West Coast.

Here is a post about the prep center. There are two prep centers on the East Coast though.

Yea it's quite a process actually.

A few videos and articles on the VDC's on the east and west coast.
