E46 vs E90

I know this has been debated since 2006 but I thought I'd offer my opinion for what whatever that's worth. I owned an e90 330i for about a year and a half. Since my friend has had extensive seat time behind the wheel of the e46, we thought it would be cool to make a video sharing both our experiences.

This is part one of two (soon to come) predominantly outlining the pro's and cons of the e90 with respect to its older sibling.

Hope you enjoy it, and any feedback is appreciated!

E46 more tossable with a smaller feel.

E46 more tossable with a smaller feel.
They don't point out that the change to run flats could account for some cornering feel.
They also don't point out the change to run flats is kind of a crappy idea.
I think the sport seats on the e90 are a little better at least in comparison to the early e46
seats . I liked the HK sound system on the e46 better at least than the Hi Fi on the e90.
There was no provision for adequate sized door speakers on the e90 because of some idiots
desire for swoopy door interiors and useless over sized map holders.
The e46 is also less complicated more maintainable by the DIYer I think .

Thanks for the reply ctuna! Both cars were running non-runflats.

I also miss the canted dash and the dipstick.

I also miss the canted dash and the dipstick.
But if you are going to have a Entertainment Screen I guess it has to be
in line with the dash for equal viewing angles.
The E46 seemed more BMW like. Not a fan of the Bammerization
of BMW but the 3 series was less offensive than the 5 series design change.
The e90 seems like more of a cruiser than the e46.

It's funny, the first time I tried to check the oil level on my car back when I had the e90, I couldn't find the dipstick anywhere. Learned that the hard way. The e46 does seem more BMW like, I agree.

Nice video .... well narrated!

We have one of each .... 2002 330i and 2009 328i.

If you could capture the authoritative exhaust growl of the old E46 now theres a difference.

We like them both but honestly the 330i is still my favorite to drive. (we feed it CABs like candy).
