2014 BMW X3 28i Pricing question

Hi all,

I am planning to order the 2014 BMW X3 28i with the following configuration. I got the prices from the BMW website. The total MSRP including Destination charge (pre tax, tag, title) is $47,845. Kelly Blue Book shows an invoice price of $44,010.

I have a few questions for y'all?

1) What is the fair price that I should negotiate down to. My budget is $44K, and I would like to stay under $44,500 (MAX LIMIT). Do you think this is reasonable ($500 over invoice)?

2) Do i get more leverage on a car that is on their inventory lot vs. a made-to-order? Most BMW dealers that I've talked to claim that the inventory BMW's are the ones I ll get a much better deal. Not sure if that is really true.

3) I live in Charlotte, NC and would like to know if there are any BMW dealers in GA, SC or perhaps other parts of NC that in your experience were flexible when it came to pricing. The local CLT dealers are currently playing hardball when it came to pricing on this configuration and the max they would go down to is $45,875 .

Base - $39,600
Destination Charge - $895
Options needed:
Red, Vermilion Metallic Exterior Color - $550
Sand Beige Leather Internal Color - $0 (included with Premium Package)
Interior Trim, Fineline Wave Wood - $500
Premium Package - $3,200
Driver Assistance Pkg - $950
Navigation System - $2,150
Total MSRP - $47,845
Thanks,
Al Matthews

Minimum should be around 6.5%. Also find out what the doc fee is before you negotiate.

Nice color combo.

Best way to get a price is go to bmwconfig.com, configure the X3 you want and this will give you invoice price. A lot of people can get $500 over invoice but it will depend on your local market, I got mine for $350 over invoice on an ordered vehicle.

You mention GA as being an option for you so lots of folks seem to recommend going to one of the forum sponsors Adrian Avilla (sp?) of BMW South Atlanta.

1. Yes, $500 over invoice is feasible. This is using invoice from BMWConfig which includes some fees that the dealerships must pay.

If you are talking SC, would you consider PCD (Performance Center Delivery)? You could order from one of the board sponsors here and pick up at the Performance Center in SC.

2. I think it is true.

As WHITEX mentioned, check the Doc fee. Also, if you are leasing with BMW, the dealership can pad the acquisition fee and money factor, so be aware of this.

Check out the Ask a Dealer forum to gain more info.

Best of luck to you!

What I did was send a build to every BMW dealer in a 2 hour drive. The prices varied greatly.
Take the best price and use it for bargaining power or buy from that dealer. Comparative shopping is your best friend.

Update

Alright guys..pulled the trigger on the X3 28i. Deep Sea Metallic Blue with San Biege leather. Fineline wave wood trim, Premium pkg, NAV & Driver Assist Pkg.
Pick it up from Spartanburg (PCD) in 4-6 weeks.

MSRP - $47,875, Paid - $44,520 (7% Off MSRP).

Actual Invoice for the build - $44,620 (including MACO & Training/Service Fees).
$44,040 without MACO & Training Fees.

I am pleased with the deal. I hope it is a good deal

Got it from a dealer in SC. Much better pricing compared to NC (where I live) or neighbouring GA.

Any recommendations on purchasing warranties?

1) Tire/Wheel: looks attractive to me. Any opinion will be appreciated. Should I get it?
2) Extended Warranty (around $2,800)- declined for now. I ve decided to get it closer to the end of my 4yr/50K, just in case I decide to sell within that time frame, or God forbid an unforseen accident. That $$ would go as a loss.

Matthews.

What are they charging for the tire warranty? How many years is it for?

When considering the extended warranty I have heard that the price is lower if ordered before you hit 10,000 miles.
