E38 Cylinder wall Material

Hi all, quick question - is the cylinder wall for E38 aluminum or inlay with metal material? Thanks,

depends what year E38 i think. i think i read some where on a sticky called "your bmw v8 and you" or something relative.
early models had a the goofy frm walls, caused problems early on because of sulfur in the gas..

aluminum cylnder walls? most likely not. i cant think if a common motor that used them.
some type of steel most likely, cromoly maybe
