E82 / E88 1 Series (2008 - 2013) BMWs throw back to the iconic 2002, with a renewed form and function. The smallest car in BMW's line up but still packs a punch. Available in coupe or convertible, powered by either an inline 6 in the 128 or the twin turbo rocket sled 135.
This particular 1 Series is a purpose build race machine. The owner had been building it up for the Gatebil Extreme Series in Norway.
It started life as just a plain 2012 factory shell, fresh from the line. That stock shell didn't stay stock long. The shell was sent off to fit a WRC FIA roll cage, to keep things stiff and safe.
Upon it's return, the chassis received some custom touches also. Front and rear E92 M3 subframes were fitted. Custom K-Sport E92 M3 spec coil overs were mounted to keep the wheels planted. A K-Sport big big brake kit was also installed, 356mm/330mm rotors front/rear.
So, now it can handle and stop, how about the go...well, let's save the best for last. The interior was treated to some racing goodies also. The cockpit gets a Sparco seat, OMP wheel, and a carbon dash, which houses an lcd dash/logger. Let's not forget about the hydraulic hand brake and the custom pedal box. Who wouldn't want to spend some time behind that wheel?
On to the exterior. To lighten things up a bit and to give that menacing wide look, a fiberglass wide body kit was installed and massaged to perfection. The doors are also fiberglass. More weight was saved by using carbon fiber for the hood, roof and trunk and inner fenders. It also looks like the front bumper assembly is quick release, for easy servicing and replacement.
Alright, finally time for the money shot, the power. To rocket this beast down the track, a S54B32 was worked up, turbocharged and dropped in. I believe it sings to the tune of around 800whp! This is truly a monster build. Check out the video and the spec sheet below.
