Exclamation 2006 bmw x5 4.4, obd code???

Hey Guys,

I have a 2006 BMW X5 4.4, blowing lots of smoke through the exhaust every now and then at idle positions.

When you start it, the RPM moves frantically for the first 5 minutes. Then while driving, it is very choppy with a thumping shift out of first gear.

Today, the *Service Engine Soon* light came on for the first time, and after plugging into the OBD port I got the code "P115A 1/2". My MacTools reader says that the code cannot be found in the database. When I tried googling it, I found nothing also.

If you know anything about this please help!! It would be appreciated!

P.S. I also have the 4x4 light with the circular arrow stuck illuminated on the dash. Any tips on that would help too. Thanks in advance!

I typed "bmw obd ii code p115A" into a google search box and your post was the 2nd result listed...and the following link below, was right below yours (3rd result). Perhaps it will offer some enlightenment.

As far as the 4x4 warning light...if it is the only warning illuminted...then just as written in the owners manual...something is wrong with either (or both) the DSC/HDC or xDrive...which means diagnostics (communication with these control modules) should indicate which system to look at, and which sensors have set a fault code. Does the diagnostic hardware/software you own have the ability to communicate with the BMW proprietary system?
If you have other warning lights illuminated like the ABS and or BRAKE warning lights (see image below from owners manual)...then you have either the bifecta or trifecta warning lights...which is a common enough malady among e45/e39/e38/e53 models that there is a lot of info on the internet & BMW forums that discuss ways to evaluate/diagnose/fix this issue. Just google "BMW bifecta Bluebee" or "BMW trifecta Bluebee" to some very extensive threads that discuss this topic in full.
