85 e30 fuel problem? Everytime I go up a hill or take a turn. Also while just cruisin

Everytime I go up a hill or take a turn. Also while just cruising fuel pump quits working even while directly wired to the battery. Nothing else shuts down bUT it will kick back in after a few seconds up to 30 min.

Put a fuel pressure gauge in the line near the fuel rail. Plumb and mount it so you can watch it from the drivers seat. Drive it and see if the pressure drops when the engine stumbles.

Its got new in tank pump new in line pump and filter. So i'm just really confused about why it happens. Also noticed when its cool outside it runs pretty well but during heat of the day its shutting off every mile or so. What exactly will the fuel pressure gauge tell me? What do I need to look for

Check the vent for the fuel tank . sounds like it may be clogged .in the heat of the day more gas vapors will build up making the problem worse. If your vent is clogged your in tank pump won't work properly .Also check the return line it can have the same effect on the pump .The other possibility is the filter on the bottom of the in tank pump is sucking up residue from the bottom of your tank.Did the car sit not running for any length of time? Most gas has ethanol in in these days and if you leave it in a tank without stabilizer in it it forms an alcohol/water bubble at the bottom of your tank. You can pull your in tank pump and see if the filter looks clean ,and look in the tank with a flashlight and see if it looks good .I suggest you also pull the fuel level sending unit from the other side of the tank so you can see both sides.Good luck ,happy hunting.

You'll be looking to see if the fuel pressure stays steady, or if it drops just before the car dies. Then you need to determine if the pump is stopping or, as toybuilder suggested, if the fuel pickup is clogging.

The car did sit for a while the Man who owned before me claims to have dropped the tank and cleaned it along with replacing the fuel pump in tank.

That's a VERY bad sign. A fuel pump that loud is dying or already dead. It should be almost silent.

There's a filter near the in line pump going to the engine and on the other side of the tank in the return line & if the pump is making noise it's either dieing or clogged.

See the in line pump is brand new replaced yesterday. There is a filter under the hood I have replaced. Was wondering where about the other one is I bet its the problem. It has tons of power just wondering why it shuts off out of no where. Especially on hills. Sounds like a filter problem? Also once i've been driving for a few miles it cuts out randomly

Just look on the left side of the car it's either almost just behind the drivers door or closer to the fuel tank on the same side it may still have the plastic cover but you should still be able to see it .

Is this the other filter? never seen one like it before. Disregaurd the butt connector I was running a hot wire to make sure the new pump wasn't bad.

Could I just replace it with any canister style filter?

You should then have 1 HVLP pump in the tank and this one you pictured being HPLV.
If the one in the Tank is supplying 3Bar at WOT full RPM, then you can just bypass the in-line pump you have pictured.

It's a damping unit, to smooth out the pulses from the fuel pump. It is NLA (no longer available) an expression you'll see a lot. It has nothing to do with filtering the fuel. Just leave it alone.

Where are you in Alabama? If you're somewhat close I may be able to help hands-on. I'm between Mobile and Pensacola.

The filter for the return is on the other side of the car from where your looking .You'll see some fuel lines going back if you look along the drivers side just follow them back you'll find filter#2.

Everywhere I look besides the car says only one filter is on it but I will give it a shot. Not looking forward to a towing bill to the shop for them to fix it. ):

It's under a black plastic cover that has a piece that sticks down like an mini air dam under the car but you should see the fuel lines running to it.

Do you think that is what causes the UN controllable vibration of the fuel pump and fuel line? Also the shutting off of the pump even while directly wired to the battery?
