E82 / E88 1 Series (2008 - 2013)
BMWs throw back to the iconic 2002, with a renewed form and function. The smallest car in BMW's line up but still packs a punch. Available in coupe or convertible, powered by either an inline 6 in the 128 or the twin turbo rocket sled 135.

Loose hose.

I need a little help I found this hose coming from my engine and I have no clue where it should be connected to but I'm assuming its part of the air vacuum system. can someone help me out? The picture should be clear so it should be very easy to spot. And this is a 1998 bmw 328i

A hose w/check valve like that often goes to the Air Conditioning system. Look for another loose hose at the fire wall. Also, if you still need help with this, you should post it with the E36 model threads.

It plugs into something. Shouldn't be hard to find. Run the engine with your head under the hood. Hear any hissing? Its length only allows it to reach so far. See what is within it reach?

Anyway it is probably part of the emission or crankcase ventilation system.

Looks like it's a vacuum hose w/ non-return valve. Parts #6 and #7 here

Check the intake manifold - there should be a hose coming out of it that this valve was attached to.

Looks like part of the SAP system but not sure if the E36 had a SAP system. The hose runs along the back of the engine to that valve you see in the diagram, #1.

If this hose has been disconnected for 2, consecutive cold starts, a SES light will illuminate.
