cracked rimm

Just found 2 rear 19" 296 wheels are cracked on my 2009 z4. Going to the dealership thursday, any advice on how to get them to cover the defective wheels?

Tell them very nicely about the recent settlement about the cracked wheels. They should replace the whole set for free.

Here is another good link

Remember, mine had no deformation of the rim, so they could not point at a particular accident or pot hole.

Blamed the pot holes, speed bumps and curb damage. Did not even acknowledge the class action suit going on in CA, so i email the service manager the case information. I will be joining a class action suit in Florida if i can find one or i'm sueing BMW myself. These wheels shouldn't be cracking

Because no one has ever won a lawsuit against a multi-billion dollar company, right?

So you're going to pay your lawyer thousands of dollars to get $800 worth of rims?

When I bought my Z-4 in 2009, the dealer strongly suggested I buy the insurance for the rims, (#293 Turbine type) I did, around 800 bucks too. However after driving over 4 years on the 293 rims, no cracks - nothing ! So this year when I purchased the 2014 model, I did not buy the Insurance, as after driving on Pot hole roads with Run Flats for 4 years and no cracks, I decided the New Z-4 would have the same rims, and Pilot Michelins (sp) .

So far all is well !

My time is worth more than $800.00, i would pitch a bitch also, but eventually you have to make a buisness decision. I'm sure you could find a nice set on Ebay. You would think a rim would bend before it would crack? Must be a bad mix of metals.
