335d.. worth it?

Hey Guys,

new to this forum.. and am looking to purchase a 2010 335d with 82,000kms

I love my buddys 335i x drive but i need more mpg's so i thought the 335d would be best.

The 335d's are hard to come by around my area but have found a couple... i have fallen in love with one with a sport/exec pkg..

What should i be concerned with? or what to look for?

Any big expensive maintenance items i will have to worry about with a car with that many miles on it?

Hows the 335d resale value?

Cheers and thanks in advance!!

Lots more info over in the diesel forum.

Make sure that the 2011 recall (EGR/SCR/DDE program) has been done. Make sure no codes for the SCR have been popping up.

82K is very low miles - mileage is *NOT* a concern.
There have been injector failures - it appears that they aren't really failing, but that some electronics on the DDE are failing and throwing codes.
Some people are worried about carbon/oil/whatever buildup - probably related to early failures of the EGR system (valve and programming.)
Ongoing problems with clogged SCR plumbing.

Resale prices are not high - everyone knows that we got them for $4500 off MSRP.

Drove a Cummins all day today - torque monster - if a Cummins pilot shifts above 2k rpm, he's flyin'!.

What's BMW's diesel rpm limit?

Good diesels routinely run 400,000 mi or more before anything expensive happens. Even then DIY makes cost of ownership very favorable indeed....
