Northern California 328i Sedan. Can you assist?

Hello fellow forum members...I have been having an issue with my climate control on my E36. When the car is on, whether the AC button is depressed or not the AC runs and the compressor runs. Pulling the relay stops the AC from running so I assume it has to do with the climate control computer. It appears to be the 'capacitor failure' issue...but when I replaced the capacitor with a new .47 uHf capacitor the climate control does not light up or work at all. So I put the old capacitor back in and the problem remains the same. My question to my fellow E36 owners is this: is there anyone in the area whom I could switch out their climate control for 15 minutes to see if that corrects the problem. I'm happy to compensate someone for their time if they are in the area. Thanks in advance.

You might want to specify where exactly you are; are you in The City or elsewhere in the Bay? How far you are willing to travel, etc.

If the c/c went completely blank after the capacitor repair it sounds like you either have a faulty solder or you didn't properly discharge yourself and you fried the board. Hate to be the bearer of bad news...

Thanks for your feedback. I'm located in San Rafael and resoldered the old capacitor back on the board after trying the new .47 uHf capacitor and it is now behaving similar to before....so I don't think the board is fried or the solder is no good. I just want to verify the climate module is indeed the issue.

Maybe you got a bad capacitor then. Unfortunately I no longer have my E36 but there are some guys in the north bay that could probably help you out. Also, once I stumble across them, I have a baggy full of the capacitors and could send you one if you'd like
