Don't Park like a D-bag

Guy in a Jag regularly parks like a doosh. So these guys teach him a lesson. Hopefully he learned it.

Thank God he got his fat ass in that car, good reason to stay in shape, lucky his life did'nt depend on it...ps,I always park my car on an angle taking up two spaces but way out in the lot where my big butt co-workers would never venture, one of the state police asked me not to park like that anymore but I convinced him otherwise. So many people think nothing of opening their car doors and smacking your car.I am not proud of this but many years ago I took out my frustrations on somebodys car with a ballpein hammer, must say that it felt WONERFUL but it did not remove the dent in my car door.

Looks like the guy in the porsche just sucks at reverse parking. Someone who is trying to protect their car, and gets an over sized spot like that typically parks as close as possible to the side....so if someone parks in the other lane hteir door does not hit the car. If anything, the douches are the ones who parked like that to prevent him from getting in.

So not only do you park just like this guy in the video, you also retaliate with more vandalism......

Doesn't matter if you're the only car in the lot, you still looked like a D bag taking up 2 spots

Too funny.

They should have hidden a mic or two around his car. Would love to have heard what he had to say.

I don't hesitate to take up two parking spots, BUT:

1) I go to an area where no one else parks (usually at the farthest reach of the parking lot)
2) I make sure not to use spots anyone needs
3) I ensure that no one can park me in.

If the Jag driver wanted to park for protection, he should either do it in a remote area or figure out a new strategy that doesn't cause problems for others.

If you do this, you're more likely to get keyed and/or vandalized in an area where:

1. nobody will notice
2. nobody will care

And your point? Scumbags can key a car anywhere, any time. I still won't do this where it would inconvenience anyone.

My point is that if you park far from people, and still take multiple spots, your chances of being vandalized can be increased. Most vandals won't vandalize if they risk being seen, either by people or cameras.

My strategy for avoiding door dings is to find spots that are corner spots (no parking on the corner side) and park my car as close to the corner side as possible. Although that has on occasion resulted in some DB parking their car into the space that I am in. Unfortunately, door dings are a fact of life when you have to park in lots where the vast majority of car owners are driving a transportation appliance and don't give a sh*t about dinging your car.

Great video!

My strategy for avoiding dings is radical, difficult to believe and highly effective for over 15 years. I avoid parking in overly-tight spaces or next to obviously inept/unconcerned drivers (badly angled in space, banged-up beater, etc.) but otherwise I park in the first free space near the door. (I admit I park away from other cars at the office, in part because the lot has plenty of room and in part to find shade.)

Treating it like it's just a car--which it is--works wonders. Rock chips from highway traffic are the bane of my existence but door dings are surprisingly rare.

as far as I can see the guy next to the D bag parked within his 2 marked lines so he is in the right, the Jag guy it the D bag that cant park

and I can see the frustration in everyone opinion having my cars dinged by dumb asses that dont give a crap, but just remember hitting a car with your door and not leaving a note is considered by the law as HIT and RUN, and if they find you, it will be serious trouble if the cops push it

that is why the stores I go to I ask them if they have parking lot cameras and where to park so my car is visible just in case someone hits my car and leaves with out a note

Adding to some of the great parking tips above; I tend to try to park next to very nice cars that look like they have anal retentive owners like myself!

On a practical basis, what I usually do is look for an end spot on the RIGHT side of a row. Most cars are driven by one person, so the odds are that if I'm the last car on the right, no passenger will be entering or leaving the car next to me - meaning the passenger door will never be opened.

I only park across two spots when there's a big open lot and I have room to get away from the high traffic area. Even then, I usually just look for the last spot on the right end of a row.

The Jag driver parked in the last spot on the LEFT end of a row - not a good choice. That guarantees that the car next to you will have a door opening and closing right at your side.

BMW drivers are probably experts at "centering" their cars in the most strategic parking space to avoid door dings...parking further away in supermarket lots (etc.) to avoid damage and justifying the extra distance to "excercise" (like me?).

Nevertheless, last month some DB cozied up to my remote parking area and I couldn't get into to driver's side door...had to get in through the pass. side, crawling over the console.

NO, I wasn't taking up two spaces. It was my E90 and the DB car all alone in the remote corner of the store parking lot. They probably did it on purpose (BMW haters).

Of course the first thing you do is look for the big door ding; fortunately none. No, I wasn't tempted to vandalize their car as *issed off as I was.

I've gone 2.5 years without a door ding, but have an annoying pattern of paint chips on my passenger side doors from 'minor' hits. I spent this past weekend filling them in (Dr. Colorchip) hoping it would cover them. Worked pretty well as they're not visible now.

And it appears the DB has figured out to park far away from other parkers....
