Hi guys, im a brand new BMW owner and forum member. I recently picked up a 2008 335i E90. I Love this car!! My wife was driving it the other day and she said she heard a loud clunk. Then it started running funny. I get there and it starts, but seems like it has a serious misfire. Push clutch in, no change. Run through gears with clutch in, no change. Put in gear and start to release clutch and it makes a god awful noise that does not go away if you push clutch back in. I felt this was very wierd, but settled on something clutch related. I have since pulled the clutch, and found an EXTREMELY worn DMF. The two parts probably move freely of each other 5 degrees or so. I'm guessing that's the noise I heard, but to me, it wouldn't explain the misfire. I spun the input shaft on the trans by hand with nothing abnormal that I noticed. I spun the motor by hand during the clutch removal and felt nothing abnormal. I'm going to put a new solid flywheel/clutch in it, but that's a whole new thing... which one. I have no clue how much HP or TQ it has as I have found many upgrades...here's what I know of.
Full borla exhaust
Throttle body spacer
Im probably gonna have to get the clutch and flywheel installed and then see whats up with the misfire if thats even what i felt. I need to order this clutch pronto, so any info would be awesome! Thanks guys...
