No problem! I will probably get 20 switches on this first order. Not just ten as previously posted. I can see that there is enough interest to support the higher quantity.

Wow, I guess I will be the first bold dummy to ask:

What exactly are "rear fog lights"??

Are you referring to the rear neon tail lights always being on? I am used to calling them "parking lights". Are you referring to the reverse lights? What will this switch control?

BigDeep1,
There are no dumb questions here unless I ask them

The rear fog light (singular) is a few cells of the left brake light which illuminate brightly when activated by a light control switch which is not installed in US cars. The US cars have the native rear fog light capability AND the corresponding cluster indicator, just not the ability to energize the light. In this linked thread, which is a DIY for the switch replacement, you can see the difference between the two switches which is nothing more than a second button on the left side of the switch. The switch is a form, fit, enhanced-function plug-and-play replacement for our US switches.

http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=597179

In this thread you will find a humurous discussion of why we, in the US, have not been give control over this rear fog light.

http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=857155

Thanks for the excellent questions!

Thanks for the explanation, I had the same question. Are these rear fog lights legal in the US? If yes, why does BMW not enable the functionality?

I am also investing in buying one, please send me the details.

Interested in rear fog light switches for our US cars?

They are legal but as for the reason why they are not enabled? We can only speculate. The mini has (had?) them as an option. Land Rover had them when they were owned by BMW so the policy is inconsistent at best.

I guess it's not popular nor required in the US.

Most the older version Audi pre-09 have it but are taken away in the new models

Quick update to let you all know that this plan is still moving forward. My on-site buyer is on vacation until 06 September and he will ship the switches in time for us to have them in mid-September. When I have received the switches and inspected them, I'll post another notice with specific instructions about payment.
Regards,
MWPos

That sounds really fishy. They are from cars that are built? So do these cars have no switches now? Are they stolen? Are they from wrecked cars? That statement isn't very clear. Also what does used operationally mean? They are used or new, pretty simple.

Reasonable questions all.
The cars from which these switches were removed were never sold to an end-user. They were BMW concept or demonstration cars for press and media and therefore in-service for only weeks, or months. They were used by journalists and test drivers. The light switches, therefore, were largely ignored by the few drivers who actually drove the cars.
Thanks for the questions!

So why would they just take the light switch out of the car? Depending on build level etc press and demo cars go to auction.

how much will you sell them for and what would the cost be if buying them as a new part from a dealer?
