Talk directly to a fleet/internet/sales manager. Unfortunately, some CAs are either clueless or dishonest and not worth talking to.

Living in Chicago, we pay state taxes (about 10%) on the entire price of the car, and not just the part of the car that's used. On top of that, Chicago charges the Usage tax (about 8%) on the monthly payment. So with Owner's Choice, you get the benefit of the lower payment like a lease--make sense?
Thanks again!
I'd like to see numbers for both . It kind of doesn't make sense to pay taxes on something that you don't own/buy (residual value of the car).

Sticky?

Can we turn this thread into a sticky? If not here, then in "Ask-a-dealer"?

I had the hardest time looking for it the other day...

To get the MSD number, you take the payment amount before the MSD reduction and raise it to the nearest $50. So if the payment without MSDs is $724, the MSD increment would be $750. You can make up to seven MSDs, so in this example 7 X 750 = $5,250. That would get you a .00049 drop on the money factor.

This paid in addition to any other fees you owe to initiate the lease.

i do understand how you get that MSD number which in your example is $5250.
what i don't get is that 7 <- where did this number come from?

and that 0.00049 number, how did you get this? i am assuming that each msd lowers the MF by 0.00007? thus MSD 7 x 0.00007 = 0.00049?

thanks.

This is not quite correct. MSDs are calculated based on the post-MSD monthly.

Silkysmooth is correct, the MF reduction is 0.00007/MSD and BMW caps it at 7 MSDs.

BMW limits the total MSDs to 7 and there is a .00007 off for each MSD. So yes, MSD 7 x 0.00007 = 0.00049 off the MF rate.

They are padding the MF for extra profit. Tell them you know this and you want the base rate of .00125 less your MSDs.

If they won't budge on the MF is that a deal breaker? It looks like it would effect the total cost of the lease by about $500 over the full period...

Dealer seems to be cutting a decent deal, so I wasn't sure if its worth walking away over?

Thanks

How do you know if it's a decent deal? What is your invoice, cap and adjusted cap pricing?

I get your point and I guess only you can decide that. I just wanted to point out they have padded their profit in a way you may not have been aware of. It might be worth mentioned to them you know this and ask if they are willing to give you the base rate. Does not cost anything to ask.

That's an above average deal, unless you're located in an area of limited competition. I'd try Jon, the owner of this site, he gets much better deals done.

Thanks for the advice. I'll definitely ask and see how it goes.

Also, contact you other area dealers and ask them to do better. There is a good room in your current deal for negotiations.

What's your acquisition fee? Your MF is already base, but you can make it lower with MSDs. It looks like you can put 2+ MSDs instead of the $1200 down, you might want to look into that.

The dealer should add the $2000 rebate to your selling price, not the MSRP.

All of the dealers in CT are charging $925 for Acq fee and $499 for the doc fee. If you add the license/reg fee along with the 1st payment & taxes its around $2,200- $2,400 out the door.

The dealer isn't giving me a $2000 rebate, I didn't qualify for anything as this is my 1st BMW

$2000 comes from BMW not your dealer, it's available for you today!

Technically, it's $2000 build out and applies to all 2013 3-series, regardless of loyalty (that's $500 you dont qualify for).

He/she is using the $2K to bring down the price from MSRP, which is a no-no. The 2K should be applied to your selling price, so it should be $40660 (for example).

I recommend you get a real selling price before any incentives and ask how is it relative to invoice. Or straight up offer $1K below invoice, since it's a 2013, then deduct another $2K for the build out.

It looks like according to bmwconfig, the cars invoice is $44,385 and the sales price is $42,660, so it looks like the true price is $44,660, which is $275 over invoice. Not bad right?

Anything North of invoice on a 2013 is a non-deal, IMHO. Ask for $1K below invoice, if they refuse...ask the manager for their best deal.
