Looks like a great event! I know this sounds a bit hypocritical after I drove to Starke last weekend but that's a bit too far for me since I'm in Orlando. If I didn't have Brookesville on Sunday I might look at it differently.
I might check out some of the FAST events later in the year though....

it's a lot in one weekend, so I definitely understand. I might not be able to make it out Saturday as I have to fix my door latch and do a few other small things to my 325i. and I still don't know if I can run Sunday or not. Either way i'll be there, i'm gonna be in Early helping set up the event.
A lot of the cfr guys run in the Fast events as well, like last weekend at Brooksville was the Fast EnduroCross.

What color is your 325? I'll look you up Sunday.......

I'm going to look at the FAST calendar and see if some of the events fit for me. The CFR calendar has some gaps in November and December and I might be able to fit in a few other events.

Ha, ha! No that's one of our instructors at last week's event. I'm a long way from being ready to handle a shifter kart.

From today's event this pretty well sums up my day.......

Got too aggressive on the first run. Cold tires, no rubber down yet. Got into a "tank slapper" in a tricky section of the course because I tried to save it instead of letting it just go around. The tail of the car got out almost 90 pointing to the right, swung back almost 180 to pointing to the left, and was making swing back to the right again when the rollover protection activated. It threw the plastic covers about 30 feet in the air and made a bang that sounded like something serious had broken in the rear suspension, then I realized the bang was the bars popping up. I've generally been running with the top down because I suspected someday I would set it off, and I didn't want the bars to punch through the back window.
My quandary now is what to do next time we wind up running in the rain......

Driving like that is just like foreplay to the rollover protection system. You got it all...."worked up".

@ Matt - Well, it was unofficially voted "the run of the day", but I would really rather have had it for a time instead of my car throwing parts 50 feet in the air....

@Ken - At least I didn't have to take it to the emergency room because they were "up" longer than 4 hours. They're actually pretty easy to reset it turns out.

Yep, you're hooked!

We have an event this weekend at the Orange County Convention Center which will make 3 weekends of AutoX in a row. On a road course at FIRM 2 weeks ago, a concrete runway yesterday, and a large asphalt parking lot this coming weekend. Then we get back into our every other weekend routine for the remaining 5 events in the year.

James, you might want to check this out too.

AuotX at the Convention Center today. Didn't press the start button hard enough so no 1st run video. We had pretty hard rain during the 3rd heat. It had stopped when I went in the 4th heat but the course was still pretty wet. Made it a bit more interesting.....

Run 2

Run 3

Wow that was an amazing course, really long.

Here is one of my runs from 2 weeks ago. Stupid camera decided to only record one run total over the course of 2 days. Not happy, since I got FTD (and PAX) both days to defend my 2-day trophy from last year.

Nice run Jay! Nice to repeat as the champ! The parking lot we were in was almost as big as the one in Philly and the way they designed the course we covered most of it two times in a run. The only down side is the first car had to complete 2/3 of the course before the next could start. That coupled with 137 entries, with 47 of them 1st timers, plus an hour lightning delay made for a long day........
We only got 3 runs due the number of entries. If they'd tried to do 4 or 5 we'd probably still be out there.

Yeah, I'm glad in a sense that we usually only have 40 to 50 entries at each event, means each person gets 6+ runs easily. Downside is that all the lots we have are small. Still a fun way to spend the day.

Even though you only got 3 runs, they were long ones. You can really get settled in during the longer runs, focus on grip and hitting apexes.
