How many would be interested in a Group Buy for the Eonon Audio/Nav Head Unit?

Will they give instructions on how to keep OBD with mpg and temp? Either way I'm 100% in, just rather know what work I'm getting into!

Do we know how much future map updates will cost? How often will they be available? I inquired but no answer yet.

The Eonon nav cannot display a Google maps signal. Hence no traffic updates.

Can anyone confirm that since I have a 97 528i with an aftermarket single-din radio installed I don't have to worry about losing my OBD info that currently displays MPG etc. on the dash that others are posting about, correct? Thanks!

Having received this response from the company about map updates, I'm no longer interested.

Dear customer,

Thank you for your e-mail.

We would like to tell you that we do not provide update service after
1 year. If you want to update it, you have check with the map card
company.

People have been asking for the OnBoard Cluster(OBC) data availability after this unit is installed. Somebody correct me if I am wrong, but if the MID is disconnected, the display shown on the MID will be lost if you connect a different headunit (Unless as Doru mentioned above that you find a way to put the MID in the glovebox and route its cable there.

I personally dont use the MID functions that much, but I do use the data available by unlocking the instrument cluster (such as coolant temp, battery voltage etc) and I dont want to give that up.

So to test this out, I disconnected the MID on my 2003 530i (Business CD, no DSP) and accessed the different tests on my cluster.

As can be seen from the attachment with the car off or running, this data is still available with the MID sitting disconnected on the dashboard

Here is the latest tally :

1 - Fudman
2 - the540wgn
3 - Occfreak32
3 - Caryalon
5 - MikesE39
6 - GreenTiger
7 - Ustad
8 - Doru??
9 - Doorman
10 - Scott740il
11 - RoddyVictory
12 - Gotboosted (very interested depending on the final price with discount)
13 - RLJett (depending on final price and whether mpg/range still available)
14 - XxPanipuri
15 - TYGER90
16 - BigMoss
17 - rschmidt777
18 - Jynger (no maps, 17pin pre-facelift connector)
19 - JacksE39
20 - bobsy (With Maps)
21 - dugyot
22 - AdemDee (Purchase in November)
23 - FIA

As per the update from Occhis, Eonon dont provide map updates after 1 year. I was curious about this so I went to Sygic's website http://www.sygic.com/en. If you purchase the software for your mobile device, they have free map updates. The question is whether purchasing the maps bundled with a GPS unit qualifies as the purchase of the software directly from Sygic? I will ask them this question and will post the answer here.

Also this is an interesting read about making TomTom maps available in the Eonon : https://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=392570370530. Not sure if this will work in the D5124F though

Of course you will retain OBD information on instrument cluster, its the instrument cluster that has the "computer/brain", MID is only display unit for center console. 2 years ago I did program for my windows carputer that displayd all the MID functions. All the data of bmw information bus is explained in details all over the internet and everybody who has a little programming experience can hack up a program to emulate the MID.

Hi Ustad, thanks for your useful share! If you guys really want updated map, you can buy an updated new GPS SD card from us in the future, just send Email to eonon.com@sbo2.net or PM me is OK, quite simple

I can tell you the compatible maps for D5124F are Sygic, iGo and Polnav, we haven't tested other maps currently, thanks!

For those interested in this group buy, please:
1. Copy the latest listing of names,
2. Add your name to the bottom of the list,
3. Paste the revised listing in a new post on this thread.
This will give us a running total of interested buyers.

The following are responses from Eonon to the following questions:

1. It says it supports Phone 4S. Can I make and receive phone calls over the unit when connected to my iPhone via Bluetooth?
A: Sure iphone 4S bluetooth wireless call can work without problem with D5124F.

2. If yes to above, if I am in music mode and taking an input signal from an iPhone over Bluetooth, if I receive an incoming call on the iPhone, will it mute the music and allow me to answer the phone call?
A: Yes no matter in which music mode, when the call comes in, the music will stop, and you can pick up the phone and listen to the talk easily. This is for the safety consideration. The music will continue playing when your have finished the talk.

3. Is the extended wiring harness required on all installations?
A: The extended wire harness is only need for those cars with OEM navigation. Otherwise, you guys don't need it.

4. Can your unit take the Google maps signal from an iPhone and display it on the unit?
A: For your questions, the unit can not take the Google maps signal from an iPhone and display it on our unit. Our M1 has miracast function which allows android smart phone to do it. For D5124F, it doesn't have this function.

I thought all OEM navigation e39 had DSP, but D5124F dont work with DSP?

No aftermarket nav units known to man work with DSP.

Does anyone have a DIY for routing the MID to the glove box? How would one sort out the wiring?
