Recommendations for Mufflers on a 04 645

Hey guys,
I've tried searching but haven't come up with anything of substance. Apologies if I missed it. I'm looking to change the mufflers on my car and had a few questions:

- Is Eisenmann worth the money?
- How does Magnaflow sound and perform on a 645i? What model is recommended from Magnaflow?

I have a shop that can handle the install, welding etc... It's going to hurt to cut the stock bumper, but I don't want to do an ///M bumper swap at this time.

I'm hoping to improve the sound of the car, looking for an air intake as well.

Thanks in advance.

I think the best sound without losing the factory mufflers is to remove ALL the resonators.

If you want an intake for sound only go for the AFE. It is low cost and sounds amazing. There is a clip somewhere on here with some drive-bys.

If you want performance then you need to go for the Dinan, which is not cheap and might give you 4-5HP max while making less intake sound compared to the AFE.

remove all front and mid resonators first, that will bump up the level somewhat... then its up to personal taste, Eisenmann is good, etc....

I have an Eisenmann race, both resonators removed and I love the sound. I actually wish it was a bit louder now! lol. You become immune to it after a while! I kept my stock bumper and my guy cut out the bumper. Simple, easy and looks great.

That sounds great. I see you're in Ontario (as am i). I'd love to hear it person one day. I deleted all three resonators and installed the Magnaflow X-pipe. Sounds much better, still too quiet though!

Gonna order the AFE intake in a couple of weeks.

I'm near Grand Bend, 200km west of TO. Make it a 1 day road trip and visit me before summer is over. I ordered that intake last Friday, but it's on backorder and will be a few weeks before it gets here.

Anytime pal. We can go for a boot one day in the vert and you can hear the sound. Since I have all canisters removed with an x pipe, you will have an idea of the sound

I was gonna buy the AFE intake... Wanted to hear it first. Wasn't sure it was worth it...

if you two can decide on a day where you can meet i wouldn't mind diving to the city to join you, maybe there are a few more 6er owners interested from the SW Ontario area to meet.

So just to be on the same page, this is more of a muscle sound right? The removal of all resonators=muscle, and removal of that heavy OEM muffler=F1 sound?

with the installation of a electronic cut-out I can bypass my mufflers and the sound is deep, a muffler delete will not give you an F1 sound.
From what I know (but I may be wrong) a delete of any component of the exhaust system will give you a deeper sound, to get the F1 sound you have to install a different muffler.

From what I've read, the location where you install the cross pipe affects whether it's deep or f1. Of course this is after the resonators are deleted. I'm sure if you change muffler, the type of muffler will affect whether it gets deeper or more of an F1 style.

I'm up for a meet. MaxBimmer has meets on Friday evenings, and there's Ertefa (www.ertefa.ca) on Thursday evenings. Both are in Woodbridge. We can meet there or somewhere else. I'm easy!

I deleted the resonators and had an x pipe installed toward the front portion of the car. As close as they could put it. It is give me a louder sound and was slightly high pitched.

When installed the eisenmann race, the sound level increased and the pitch was slightly higher. Not Ferrari high, as our cars will never sound like that, but nice. I've heard the flow-through design like a magma flow and they are much deeper. They are super cheap, but I never regret the money I paid for mine.

I'm a professional and I can still drive to meet Clients and not sound over the top. When I hit the sport button, or drive with the paddles, the sound is super clean!!!

Just keep in mind the removal of resonators results in a VERY mild change. You will barely hear the change inside the car but people outside the car will hear a difference. The only time I can tell I've removed my resonators is in underground parking lots and when downshifting in underpasses - and this is with the top down.

Changing the location of the x-pipe will change the pitch of the exhaust but it's still a very mild exhaust note so don't expect miracles.

If you want to hear your exhaust while the windows are up then you will have to install an aftermarket exhaust. Magnaflow if you want to sound like a muscle car or something like the Eisenmann Race if you want F1 like sound.

Here is a sound clip of my 650 with the Magnaflow cat-back system. IMHO the BMWs sporting a V8 have a euro-tuned V8 sound. Perhaps similar to newer corvettes and some modern performance V8s coming out of Detroit. They don't sound like the raw raspy rumbling V8s of the muscle cars of yester year.

Additionally, no matter what you do to the exhaust it's never going to have an F1 sound, yes you can tweak it and get a slightly higher pitch sound........but F1 like......not in my opinion. I am no expert on the physics, but I believe you need a small displacement high revving motor to come close......like a Ferrari or Lambo. I've been to several F1 races, and spend many years at the tracks improving my craft. IMHO: two rice rocket bikes taking off side by side sound a hella of closer to the high revving scream of an F1 racecar then any BMW with a V8.

But I love the euro-tuned V8 sound of my 650!

I have to admit, that sounded pretty damn good. Maybe there is more than one option when installing Mangaflows because others I've heard on 6ers were a lot more unrefined.

went to the track last night, way too many cars yesterday. Could get only 2 sessions @ 10 min each. But nice cars, 5 Porsche (my brother was having fun with those guys) 6 or 7 Corvette, a GTR, 5 BMW 3 series incl M3 and the Mustang crew was also there.
Whatever date you guys decide on, I will try and make it.

It's been quiet in regards to this Toronto Meet, therefore I suggest the following dates, Wednesday, Sep 4th or Thursday Sep 5th in the evening at around 7 p.m. I would say that we let Yorgi pick the location.
