It is very common in Russia, a small camera with motion sensor that records everything 24/7, then deletes videos by itself. So basically if you got an unusual scratch, you check the video and see who was around. I just see the video of people checking out my car when I'm away

There are at least 2 cameras that record 360 that I have seen discussed on this forum. I think the biggest issue is getting power to the camera (how to do it without wires all over the place), V/r, Tim

I can't remember the names of the cameras, I found this on ebay

That's exactly the one I have, it's not 360*, therefore I have 2. The battery lasts very long, although there are wires, but it makes a small car mess.
I bought mine a while ago in Moscow, I think there are better ones out there

The estimate is somewhere between 5 and 10k, they won't know for sure til they pull the 1/4 panel to see what damage is underneath.

The problem with collecting for diminished value has to do with the insurance policy. A standard policy limits liability as to the payment of property damage to the cost of the repair or the actual cash value of the vehicle, whichever is less. There is no coverage for diminished value. I agree, however, that you should be entitled to such damages.

this is the insurance of the person that hit me, not my ins co. so my payments on my policy don't matter

Yes, but the insurance policy for the person who hit you most likely only covers the cost of the repair or the ACV of the vehicle, whichever is less. Insurance coverage is contractual and the policy language usually contains this limitation.

But do not confuse insurance coverage with what you are legally entitled to recover. If the insurance policy does not cover diminished value, you might be able to go after the person who hit your car directly, provided the insurance company does not make you sign a release. It will be your responsibility to prove diminished value in order for you to recover.

Thanks, not sure I want to go to the hassle of suing the people that hit me, and I don't know if they have anything that they could pay even if I won. I will push the ins co to see what I can get,
I guess I use the dealer to give me an appraisal of the car with and without the damage?

If the dealer is willing to give you a report as to the diminished value of the car for free, you can present it to the insurance carrier and see how the carrier responds.

Ouch!

The problem was the damage underneath the quarter panel, unfortunately there is no other way to get at it, the door, since it is aluminum was also replaced. Today's pics, they dont weld the new quarter panel on. They use a rivet and bonding process(stronger and less prone to corosion Click image for larger version

the door frame actually gets stronger as a result of the gluing, instead of a spot weld every 3-4 inches it is glued continuously.

That's pretty crazy expensive for that small dent, I cant imagine an 09 750 going through that unless I was keeping the car as a show piece. Looks like a 15k repair on a car worth maybe 35k?

I do keep my cars forever(My last 7 was a 97, skipped the bangle era), and I want this one to last also.
