I just bought mine today as well! But from Tischer...

It is a nice chunk of change, but it might very well pay off, seeing how I'll keep my car so long... it will also let me feel more free to enjoy my car, take it on longer and/or more secluded road trips with greater peace of mind...

I also picked up a pair of BMW Tire Totes for $21 (seemed to be the best deal, even compared to single totes from the vendors I could think of...)

In my case buying the spare tire and 4 go flats (Pilot Sports) was just about the same as buying 4 run flats. It was with in a few dollars. Of course I like the non run flats much more. N4S

I'm contemplating the 'Thule' cargo box. What's a mere $400 for spare tire space (and lost fuel economy) when you absolutely must have trunk space on those long trips to the mountains? Thanks, BMW!

Just looked at this option for one extra full size tire as a spare and after you get the wheel, tire, jack... the price turns out to be similar to the small spare. If I needed/had snows it would probably be an options! Thanks!

I bought a jack from wrecker yard... it's an E70 X5 Jack I paid $20... brand new and much stronger than sedan jack

You're welcome. I think most/all are the same thing? I don't know if you read the description in your own link (I saw it before when browsing), but it says this:

With that being said, the purpose of this spare tire kit is SOLELY to get you out of a bad area (traffic, security) and NOT for any prolonged driving. By purchasing this spare tire kit, you acknowledge this statement.
The topic of this size difference is addressed very early on in the spare tire sticky thread. I'm not so worried because if I ever put this spare on, I'll probably be driving like a grandma, and well maybe also because I am changing my diff oil every 30K miles. And if I did blow the diff out, maybe it would be the excuse to finally get an LSD (which I don't have any plans for in the foreseeable future).

Space Saver arrived in the mail last night ($300 all up fram Bavarian... much cheaper than $800 quoted by local dealer)

I feel much safer now driving around and gain some boot space...

Be careful, you wouldn't want to be stopped for "Concealed Carry"! . I know you guys down under have strict rules about that (that also goes for all of y'all in The Peoples Republic of California).

That is rich, a New Yorker turning a handbag joke in a spare tire thread into a political commentary of CA law.

You can still get a CCW, it's just way harder, you need a really good reason, or be connected to the right people, or are willing to donate a lot of money to the sheriff's dept or whatever. Heck, I think a member that hangs out here in the E9x forum is a CA resident with CCW. No, we don't get to legally obtain .50 BMG, we have limited cartridge sizes (and I'd select a revolver anyhow for CCW), and if you don't like it just stay away, don't give me crap about it here.

Then again, so many people obtain things illegally here it's kind of silly, I have seen some of these things myself. As for legally obtained, yeah you do have to wait 10 days for the background check, but I think it's so easy to obtain lots of weapons, I can only imagine how much easier it could be. My brother just bought a Sig Sauer M400 and an HK USP 9mm on the same day, it's pretty easy. Sheesh, why the F am I talking about this chit in the E9x forum. I stay away from the poli sci cesspool for good reason, maybe you should keep it there.

130i, 320i (selling but not sold?), 325i, X3 (mein auto) = 4 cars, but with Golf coming = 5 cars. ("I said you might have as many as..."). 3 bikes = 6 more tires. Plus your space saver, grand total 27. Not saying I'm right, but that's just how I arrived at that #.
