Keep 2006 325i, or trade in for 2011 328i?

I am driving 2006 325i, with mileage about 95K. I'm the original owner, and the car usually runs on the hwy for commute. Overall condition I'd say very good.

However, as its close to 100K, Id expect coming maintenance won't be cheap. See a local dealer has a CPO, 2011 328i 20K, priced at $26,970. It really gets my mind running.

What's your thoughts on this?

It's an intriguing concept if you plan on staying with an e90 for a while. I suppose if you consider the costs associated with buying the new car as offsetting the upcoming maintenance costs (shocks, spark plugs, etc) it could make some sense.

Personally, I would stick with the car you have now...unless it has been giving you problems. By buying the 2011, your maintenance package will soon run out and with 20k miles on it, you will be stuck replacing breaks and other parts. If you opt to buy the additional maintenance package, that will set you back about 1500, which is probably inline with what you will pay for the maintenance on your car once it hits 100k.

what sort of options are on the cars?

and does it bother you when you see a post lci car drive by?

if your 325 is nicely optioned and you don't have issues with the older style, I would keep you car and spend some money on it.

people will always say the non turbo e90 is a waste to spend money on, but I disagree.

if you spend 3-5 grand over the next 2-3 years, you will have a very, very satisfying ride.

personally, I would start with a few small engine mods(ie 3stage and tune) then go to suspension.

this is exactly what I did.

Thanks for input from everyone. Very interesting ponits from all of you ~

I really like style and L6 engine from E90 model, either pre & post LCI. That is the main reason to consider switching to a newer CPO, for maybe another 5yrs staying in E90 under BMW warranty.

A quick comparison of the two cars

2006 325i (my current car)
- mileage 95K
- premium package with navigation
- new set of RFT
- estimated trade-in value ~$10K
- no big trouble, but 10K maintenace is coming ...

2011 328i (traget CPO)
- mileage 20K
- premium package
- selling price $27K
- CPO warranty for 6 years or 100K miles
