Question 335is Auto with paddle shifter question

This may apply to the 335i as well but I'm specifically thinking about a 2011 335is. Is it possible to reprogram the paddle shifter in the automatic so that pulling the right paddle upshifts and pulling the left one downshifts?

I test drove a car at Carmax (335i) and you had to press with your thumb to downshift and I really didn't like that.

335is Auto with paddle shifter question

The auto 335is the DCT and the auto 335i uses the Steptronic.

The 335is paddles are set up with downshift on one side and upshift on the other.

I played with mine last night. I was able to shift down and up on the right. Never messed with the left.

Ex. If I push the paddle with my thumb forward it starts M1

If I push with my middle finger to me it will start M6

Eitherway, I can clock down or up with one side.

Correct, the 335i is setup with the push/pull paddles that let you shift with a single hand. Some people don't like this, as pulling the left paddle towards you upshifts instead of downshifts the way most paddle-equipped cars (including the 335is) behave.

If you want to change the paddle behavior on a 335i to "pull left downshifts / pull right upshifts / pushing either does nothing", you can make this modification to the steering wheel wiring harness: http://www.n54tech.com/forums/showth...dle+left+right

Right upshift - left downshift is factory stock. To shift you move the paddles toward the driver with your finger tips.

335is has a DCT and the paddle operate as you ask, right is up, left is down and they are even labelled + and - 335i with the steptronic trans works as you experienced with both paddles working the same. You can change a 335i to M3 paddles (or the is paddles) so that you get the same functions as the M3 or is with DCT.
