7 Series - E65 / E66 (2002 - 2008)
Discussion of BMW's 4th generation E65/E66 7 Series flagship. The E65 generated much controversy, due to its radical styling and iDrive user difficulties. Nonetheless, the E65 broke records to become the best-selling 7-series iteration ever, especially after its 2005 facelift.

No map CD in the navigation computer. Please insert map CD.

I bought the latest navigation CD that came out. When I put in the CD it still says the same thing: "No map CD in the navigation computer. Please insert map CD." I checked the fuses, and the problem isn't with the fuses. What else can I check? Thanks.

My man i just fixed the same issue you have..This is what you should do. Call the local dealership and ask what part number your navigation system is ( in the trunk) and ask what numbers can match in the car cause you need to replace it. Then go on ebay and search for it and see if the parts are compatible..after that its plug and go.

It could just be the laser. I've read on the board that this is caused by the laser going out and once replaced it was fixed. I've seen a service on Ebay for this, but can't say that they are good as I haven't tried them.

Revive old post. Same issue with no read, but I already bought and replaced a new black cap laser lens for the unit for 29.99 on ebay, great deal. At first the disc wouldn't go in, figured I missed something when putting it back together. Yeah, the part that closes down on the disc, I forgot to put the tab in the slot, kind of tricky to get it to fit while closing it. But none the less it accepts disc...but now it don't sound like the docs goes in and spins......it use to before the change of the lens.. any advise?? I used grounding strap and was handling with care, and everything was smooth on the change. Do you think the drive motor for spinning the disc went bad just at that precise time of changing the lens?? Idk,...please help if any of you experienced this.
