E82 / E87 / E88 1 Series (2008 - 2013)
BMWs throw back to the iconic 2002, with a renewed form and function. The smallest car in BMW's line up but still packs a punch. Available in coupe or convertible, powered by a naturaly aspirated inline 6 in the 128 or the turbo twin power inline 6 rocket sled 135.

Should I buy this ???

Hey All....

My mother has a 2009 128i covertible. It only has about 27 thousand miles give or take.
In my definetion this car is a cream puff. Garage kept, she never beat it up. I actually think the only time this car was driven hard when I have been behind the wheel.

She is getting a bit older now, and would like to get into a 5er, and the little convertible is too small for her now, so she says anyway.

Her buy out on the remaining of the loan is about $ 21 thousand dollars, the loan matures December 2014. (she took one of those select loans, the rate was super low back then I think)

I hate to see her just trade it in, as I know its a perfectly kept and maintained car.

Presently, my wife and I have a 2014 X3 35i, and we love it.

I love my moms 1 series for a couple of reasons....
First, it has the traditional steering, not the new electric steering. When I drive the X3 with the electric steering is just not the same, even with the dynamic handling package.

Second, its a natural 6 cylinder, and just sounds deeper and throatier then our new 6 cylinder turbo in the X3, dont get me wrong, the 6cyl turbo is a peppy little monster, but it just isnt the same as the natural 6 power house.

Third, my wife is gaga over having a little convertible for the warmer months to drive around in.

My only hesitation is the options in the 1 series, or should I say lack there of. My mom took a dealer stocked car, and its basically stripped.
I believe it has the premium package, leather, cold weather pkg, the upgraded soft top fabric, and I think thats it. Also, its a automatic. (lol, not that an automatic is a problem for me, I have never once driven a manual, and do not know how, but I think a car like this with a manual would be way more fun to drive, so most of you on here say anyways, haha)

My question for you guys, would you buy it for a third vehicle for two people. Should I be worried about maintence issues as the years go on? Even though the miles are super low, is time an enemy here to this four year old car? I know I can add an extended warranty that would bring us to 6 years.

Also, would BMW financial transfer this car to me? and would it be hard is possible?

Whats your thoughts ?

Does not appear to be a stripper model with cold weather & premium package.

KBB private party pricing for that year, model & accessories is $23500 to $24500 as a cream puff.

Trade in at a dealership number is +/- $21,500 depending on how much the dealer allows after profiting on the 5er.

Whether it is a good deal or not depends on how much over the $21k you and your Mother negotiate. Appears to be quite a small value left in the car based on the residual amount owned on the loan.

I would offer your Mother $500 - $1000, but that seems little value for a loan payment after 3+ years. She could probably get a 2013 5er heavily discounted at this time of year, just before the 2014's arrive.

YES!!! It's really tough to get a car who's history you know was gentle. Don't pass this one up! That's a great price for a cream puff according to my shopping in the Seattle area.
