7 Series - E65 / E66 (2002 - 2008)
Discussion of BMW's 4th generation E65/E66 7 Series flagship. The E65 generated much controversy, due to its radical styling and iDrive user difficulties. Nonetheless, the E65 broke records to become the best-selling 7-series iteration ever, especially after its 2005 facelift.

Smile 02 e65 change radio country code

After reading loads of radio threads one led me to bimmersport, apparently from late 2001 on bmw has a "world radio"fitted so you can change the fm frequency, upto 90mhz or 90 to 104mhz.it tells you how to do this on some models by getting into menu and just pressing a few buttons but on the e65-e66 you have to take it to the dealer and plug it in to their computer. My o2 e65 is a jap import and so only goes upto 90mhz,here in nz i need the 90 to 104mhz,i got into the menu on idrive but looks like it may be shop only job.
Can anyone shed any light or tell me if this could be done on a general plug in scanner,or bmw only,Thanks in advance for your help

I also have the same Jap import E66. The US version radio modules here (UAE) are easily available for max USD 150. But i havent bothered to replace it cause i dont listen to the radio a lot.

Looks like a band expander is the only way. Not the best but they work. Got one in my 760li. Need one in my 745i... That is unless someone knows how to change it without that band expander
