Google search no longer works without cookies

In the past it always worked. Now here in Taiwan on my mobile smartphone if you do not enable cookies you can not access the Google search website. In the past it used to be an option but as Google got bigger and gained market control they now take this right away from us:thumbdown:

The local website of Google.com.tw will work but the regular www.Google.com which worked great until what seemed like yesterday is now no longer working without enabling cookies. Facebook did this a while back ago as well and now it seems like Google has hopped on board as well.

Yeah. You have a *right* to use Google's search function anonymously.

Try Bing. See what that gets you.

I just did and it worked. Never really used it until today lol.. We had all relied on Google so much for all our searches and now that they have noticed this they seemed to quietly have changed their cookie options for end users without telling anyone about it. I tried to do a sketch via WiFi and via 3G and neither worked. Most expats in foreign countries who do not read or write the local language or want the international version of the search will want the Google.com option and not the Google.com.he or Google.com.no etc.. option. Until what seemed like yesterday this was all fine and working but no longer working as of yesterday from smartphones running Google's OS. Shows you how people ans companies change once they have the upper hand and control of things.

Re: Google search no longer works without cookies

Here is what the Bing option shows:

Show all
Only English
Only From Taiwan

We have 3 options. We used to have options from Google but no longer do we have them now. WTF??

I had to make another post because I could not edit and add a picture using this Bimmerfest application. Allows me to add image with new post but does not allow me to add image when editing previous post. Weird..

Just saw they now also do not allow you to log into your Google account using the stock explorer on your smartphone if your cookies are disabled and they do not allow you to submit reviews on Google Play if you turn off cookies/tracking. Not sure why those would be related but it is obvious that they do not want you turning off tracking and cookies these days. In the past all this was ok but these days things are changing.

Google has remotely activated the cameras on phones, and they need to keep track of where their phones are.

You would figure that they would at east allow you to choose whether or not to allow tracking mode What though does the web browser working have to do to tracking Used to always work fine before I thought with technology advancing we would get more options and not less options

Also, what on earth would have to due with Google Play reviews as well

Like any large corporation that can corner a market, when they can, they operate the market for their own benefit. Google reads your Google Mail, they track your browsing to sell you ads, and they have gotten to the point where they call the shots.

Use DuckDuckGo if you don't want to be tracked. http://donttrack.us/

Would not surprise me if Google set up these companies for people to download. Half those applications that one downloads have all these ridiculous permissions that you have to approve of.

Thanks for the link though

I find that any website that offers free services, facebook, google, yahoo, etc...are getting very smart in targeting ads to you, even if you feel those ads are nonsense. With the exception of headline news, the other news articles that are in CNN, USA Today, Yahoo, are nothing more than advertisements for something. Someone is paying the providers for the space they occupy on their webpages.

For example, I just pull up one "news article" from Yahoo, "10 Cars Ready to Road Trip All Summer Long" which leads you to a page "Cheat Sheet". With a few pretty pictures, and the 10 cars in the article, you get the excitement, wow, these are great cars, and perhaps the article will lead you to go car shopping. If that didn't work, I can bet somewhere, you will see car advertisement in your Yahoo homepage. I am conditioned to see that their opinions are nothing more than trying to sell cars.

The nerdy geek at the night shift at Google will look for girls name Chrystal chatting using dirty words and activate their phone cam? Nice to put so much power into the hands of others.

Looks like there is an update from Google on this one now.

https://support.google.com/websearch/answer/873?hl=en

How to visit Google.com instead of your local domain

If you'd rather use a different Google site, like Google.com, you can choose to do so. Before you do, make sure your cookies are enabled so that the preferences you pick will be saved. Here’s how to change your Google domain:

Click the Google.com link on any other domain.
Bookmark http://www.google.com/ncr. This is an alternative web address for Google.com that always takes you to Google.com without redirecting you.

Apr 8, 2013

This was dated April 8,2013 but I guess they started it after. Works though by adding /ncr at the end of Google.com

They are sneaky by adjusting their features or searches to not work unless you now allow cookies In the past they worked well without them cookies. With all this news out on tracking and eavesdropping I can now see why they are slowly and sneakily adjusting their platform to pretty much not work without the old option on enable or disable cookies tracking.

This does not look too bad or is a start at least.

Until you find yourself looking at some unbelievable dream job one day and then someone from the government shows up to tell the contracting company, "Sorry, Mod's probably not the guy for that as we found he did a number of searches on socialist extremist groups in the early part of the 21st century." There goes the cushy gig all because google keeps everything you do.

Another way around it... multiple google accounts. I have one I use for twitter, Google+, leaving reviews, etc and it's not known by any of my friends/family. Then I have my official email address I use for communicating with possible employers, family, etc.

But Google knows that all those accounts belong to you because they are all originating from your computer, saved on your hard drive, and go out from the same IP.

THEY know.

Unless you have an extra smartphone or iPad of some sort which uses a rechargeable SIM card with data that is used for all the anonymous stuff.

1)You basically would need something like an iPod where you keep all your private stuff on. That iPod never goes online to download anything. Zero downloads on it accept what it comes with and everything on it is switched off. All contacts can go in there.
2) A smartphone that you use which you down download all the applications you want on it. That has only applications on it. No Email addresses or contacts on it. Fake email account on it for reviews etc..
3) Another smartphone that you use for calls and social networking only. No other applications on it.
Basic contacts only.

One pretty much would need 3 or 4 devices. Ouch..

I still think that someone out there should invent or manufacture a smartphone with flash drives that are very well encrypted with high security so that neither side has access to the other side.

You don't which is exactly why I said and figured that if they designed a smartphone with two flash drives that were heavily encrypted and basically blocked from accessing one another it would be a huge success as many people would want to buy the smartphone. Since no one would give up their smartphone this would be a huge success.

Me.

OTOH, I don't have a smart phone.

I personally have no need for one, so I would just putz around with it all day, run up data charges, and accomplish nothing.

I hate talking on the phone anyway.
