I-drive question!!!!!

hello everyone,
i own a 2004 bmw 525i with mask unit couple of weeks ago i decided to install aux input and i did so i had to take it to dealer to get it coded and programmed, cost me $100 now my actual question is shouldnt my mask unit be able to read mp3 cd's especially after this update??
bc they claim they updated the entire system they dont just code 1 thing into it. and iv read in a bunch of forums with ppl's mask unit not able to read mp3 prior to the update and then having that capabilty after the update.
another question, if this case is true that means all mask units have the capability of reading mp3??
